Hi all,
I recently purchased a 91 talon with the turbo. When I drove it, I could never feel the turbo give any power and the guy said it just needed some more boost fluid. He told me to look at the guage, and when I gave it some gas, it never reached boost and he said that meant it was empty. He didn't want too much for it and it was a 5 spd (what I wanted) so I bought the car for $2300 and got it home. Well the next day I looked around forever, but could not tell where I need to fill back up the boost. I saw some lines going into the turbo, so I am pretty sure that is where it needs to go.
The only problem now is that I cannot seem to find any of the fluid at my local auto parts stores. Most of them have never heard of anything like it and one other place said they no longer carried it. Is this something I have to get at the dealer?

Anyways, if you can help please reply, I can't wait to start using the turbo again:D

oh hell yah.... i think we should tie him to a pole and we all get to kick him in the nuts

It's IN!!

Well I have everything bolted back up, minus one exhaust manifold stud. It just kept spinning when I tried to put it back in. So will it be ok to miss just 1 stud or should I fix it? It's the stud that goes into the valve cover.
I already put in the coolant and oil again, I am about to go test drive it but I want to make sure that 1 stud wont' hurt anything.

Yes don't drive anywhere w/o a manifold stud in although they all bolt to the head none bolt to the valve cover.

Later,

I believe some one said something like "if he's bringing the bozze then let him help" in response to that dude helping him and wanting to drink beer. Man.......Beer is ok for working on a car but dont touch the booze, once your shLtfaced its hard to work on a car with out hurting you or your car!

And what kind of people would have someone help and bring the beer?
I know nholley is with me on that one! He helps and you bring the coors light and smokes if helper wishes to smoke.(always check prefered brand of smokes of helper before making purchase!)

Loud,

I read this post from another forum...I know that there are a LOT of Turbo Buick guys in the Kentucky area who will be glad to help. Turbo Buicks have been around for a LONG time and most older Buick guys have forgotten more about cars then any of us know. Look for them.

Good luck,
Kev :)

Hey I found this thread from the MR2 board...I just want to say good luck man...I hope you don't blow your motor by throwing a bigger turbo on there! Oh well these guys know infinitely more than me about Eclipses (since I know 0), so I guess they must be giving good advice...

I think the cluelessness of the previous owner obviously contributed to your getting the car so damn cheap.

let us know how it goes...

Ok everybody, hang on to your hats!!!

Believe it or not, boost fluid did exist! Wa back in 1962, both Oldsmobile and Corvair offered turbocharged engines. But since they didn't have electronic controls to take care of spark knock, they offered a special boost fuild that was burned when the bosst was used. It came in little cans and there was a special tank under the hood to hold this fluid. One automobile editor went through six cans of the stuff in one tankful of gas!

On the tech side, those turbo engines did NOT have a wastegate! They used a very small carburator to make sure excessive bosst did not happen! Im gussing the fluid was mostly water and alcohol, to take away heat from the intake system.

Well, it was a good laugh anyways!

I have 5 gallons of high performance boost fluid. I am willing to sell it for $75 a gallon if you pay shipping. I also have a box full of new balanced and polished mufler bearings if you are interrested.

Well, someone sees something funny, he's gonna post it to another forum. :) i think it was linked 5 separate times to the RX-7 Forum alone.

i think it's sweet though that the original poster went from "where do i get boost fluid?" to "i just installed my new turbo"

Whow.. learn something new every day. I wonder if anyone still carries boost fluid? :) Of course I'd be afraid my turbo Corvair might break down the center or something. :D

There's a song that goes with this...sing it to the "Hankey Pankey" tune.

You kick the left nut in, you kick the left nut out.
You kick the left nut in and you beat him with a bat.
Shove a glasspack up his a$s and then you turn him all around.
That's what it's all about.

You kick the right nut in, you kick the right nut out.
You kick the right nut in and you beat him with a bat.
Shove a glasspack up his a$s and then you turn him all around.
That's what it's all about.

A good nut kicking werks every time
