So those of you with HID retros or kits, where do you have your ballasts mounted?

I've got a total of 4 ballasts to mount on my car and I'd like to see what others have done.

I took off the front fascia on my 2g and mounted them below the headlights, you can see the ballasts if you look through the outer inlets (see pics). Pics are taken from ground level looking upwards. First is passenger side - you can see the old hole in the fender liner for the factory intercooler outlet mod. Second is drivers side. There's plenty of room for two ballasts a side. While it is a bit more of a pain in the behind to pull the bumper the ballasts are out of the engine bay heat.

edit:the second pic is upside down

Passenger side shown. Hella Gen 3 in photo. I now have a boosted Bosch AL in the same spot. That stainless steel wire in the photo supports all my required emissions crap in the front corner.

Sorry to bump and old thread... but are these ballasts usually water proof? Id like to put mine in the same spot as azdave, but I know theres usually a gap between the bottom of the headlight and the bumper there and im worried about water dripping directly on the ballast.

Most are water proof, infact they all are pretty much either water proof or splash proof! There's many videos where people put them in water for testing! The only ones I'd worry about are cheap crappy from no branded or eBay.

Xtralights do the video aswell and there very good.

Aftermarket ones are generally fine.
Most OEMs are contained in the headlight so they are not. You can however pot them and make them water proof.
