ok my problem is and i believe people have come close to this or have had these issues but i cant find any posts that are the same.. anyway my problem, under normal driving conditions(under 3000 rpms) my car drives fine but whenever i step on it and the boost kicks in it kinda feels like its slipping.. but the rpms dont go up fast like its slipping. and my boost guage reads at full boost the entire time until i let off a little or completely.. also my bcs restrictor is out and im hitting 14-15psi and my vac is reading 20 at idle but drivin it will go to 23-25.. it cant be a boost leak if it stays at full boost the entire time right? anyway i cant figure it out but i know it should have more power.. any help would be appreciated.

Has it always felt that way? Do you have anything like SAFC?

yea it has always been like this.. i know it should pull harder because my cousin has a 98 gst and his car pulls like crazy and throws you back and i have a couple more mods than he does.. you say i can have a leak but still hold all my boost? if that were so then wouldnt it still pull strong if it were holding all that pressure:confused:

Nope. If you are leaking some boost pressure, that is air that has already been metered by the MAS. That means your MAS is seeing air that your intake isn't. Therefore you are running rich which means you are losing power. Also working your turbo harder which is making your intercooler run hotter.

It could still technically hold pressure, but if your losing alot of metered air, then your going to be running rich because the ecu thinks theres more in there then there really is because your loosing it through the leak, then you have a bad mixture and will not have optimal power for the boost level.

oh almost forgot, when i do floor it in 1st or 2nd it will feel like it wants to pull hard for a split second but wont.. and in my cousins car you will get that understeer alot but in mine it will steer a little like it wants to then wont and again but wont??

check for boost leaks. as mentioned could be phantom knock. does it always do that or only sometimes. there are some times you punch it and it actually feels fast like it should, and other times it's like whats going on wheres the pushing you back in your seat pull. also do you notice when the problem is happening, if you let off the throttle, and then punch it again the power comes back? i had this problem with my first gst, it was totally stock and pretty mint condition. i put filter, bov, etc. did all the maintenance (proper plugs and wires, right gap, etc) and was still doing what i just mentioned. a few reading on phantom knock seemed like that was my problem. i never got around to seeing what it really was because i sold the car.

what do you mean understeer? you are turning and it's understeering? or do you mean torquesteer when you punch it?

your responses seem to make sense so i will have to try and find a leak if any.. i just wish i knew if it was somethin major or not, could it be the timing? the car has 61k and i havnt changed the belt but i bought the car a couple months ago and i hear your supposed to change it every 60k and i dont know if it was changed before me i got it with 59k..

I think it is your plugs/wires... A friend of mine had the same problem, he thought the clutch was slipping, but the rpm's did not go up. He had just put in new plugs and wires. I had an extra set of ngk 7's gapped to .027, so we put them in with better wires and it solved the problem...

torquesteer probably, it does it all the time, it wont throw me back like it should.. what i meant was it almost seems like its gonna pull hard for a split second but doesnt..everytime.. its hard to explain i can feel it like its gonna pull but it doesnt??

and would it be plugs and wires if i just changed them? it was doing this before i changed them and still does so i dont think its that..

torque steer is what i meant but im not gettin that all the time, just my problem. but compared to my cuzs car he gets torquesteer ### his pulls so hard and mine doesnt but it seems like it wants to

in normal driving the car is fine but whenever i want to go fast and the turbo kicks in the car doesnt acclerate like it should.. is the blow off valve supposed to only make noise when you shift?? or when your flooring it too? because my greddy bov will make noise leading up to my shift..

to answer your question , it always does it.

If the BOV is making noise at all times, it means its open when its not supposed to be. If its open when its not supposed to be, thats a Huge boost leak right there. Make sure its hooked up right, if it is, its probably bad.

It should only open when the throttle plate closes quickly.

i dont know if its bad or not but whatever the setting was i did make it softer because i read here that if the setting was too hard i could ruin the motor.. and i also read here that even the softest setting would hold up to 20psi..? but i do know that when im flooring it i hear the bov going "Ssssssssss then psssh" when i shift.. so it shouldnt be making any noise at all til shift? then i prob do need a bov unless i can adjust it to stop this?

Are you sure its the BOV you hear and not turbo spool?

How many times did you turn the screw on the BOV when you adjusted it?

i have no idea.. i read on here that it was better soft than hard so i turned it a few times towards softer.. .. the screw is out from the nut at least a half inch.. should i adjust it towards hard and see what that does or could it just be somthing else?

Yea i was just about to say its ## Turbo spooling up. And if ## "new" to 4g63's.... then yea you dont know the difference yet. But the slight "snake sound/hissing" or "winding" sound if the turbo. The "whipp" sound is the bov. Sounds really "sexy"... yea thats the bov :sneaky:

But do a boost leak like they said, i still need to do one on mine. But i DONT KNOW exactly HOW to do it. Plus i still needa replace the crank pulley.

You should get a boost controller.... that would make you pull harder. You can tell the difference with just a few more psi. When i run stock boost.... feels like my car should be going ALOT faster.

Boost controller opens up the potential of your turbo. Just dont BLOW your motor :nono:

well i was going to eventually get a boost controller but i did the free mod and took the restricter out of the stock boost control solenoid .. so I'm reading like 14psi.. i thought that was safe to use, anymore and i would be stressing it wouldn't i?
