okay everyone, so ive been having transmission problems, like a lot of other people here but theres one thing that weird about mine. When i get in my car and everything is cold, i HAVE to pump the clutch a couple times to get it into gear. after i put it into gear once it will go into the others like butter. but once everything starts to heat up my transmission will not go into gear. :banghead:

Fluid level is good. I adjusted master cylinder rod. But when i pull the boot back on the master there is like greese or something. Is it suppose to be 100% dry?

Check rubber hose under your air filter that connects the two metal lines, they will flex and crack, more than likely its the original rubber line from the factory. Replace with s.s. braided line. Their only $20 or so. Also pedal assemblys are known to wear out. If you checked master, and slave and everything is good, those are your other places to check before you would drop tranny. But doesnt sound like its a clutch or tranny issue, just sounds like a pressure issue.

You could have air in the lines. I would bleed the system if you haven't already. It takes about 5 minutes and a friend. Also, there is supposed to be a little bit of grease there. That is normal.

Could be something in the tranny and clutch then.

Did you check to see if u have a worn pedal assembly? Had that issue a few years ago, got a rebuilt pedal assembly from shep racing. I think they're $120 plus your core.

I just did that haha. And I just drove it, the pedal got stuck about inch and a half off the floor. No its not crank walk!!

Clutch master cylinder rod prob needs adjustment since there is that bleeder valve in the cylinder to allow constant fluid pressure. When it goes out of adjustment it won't allow fluid to return and prevents the clutch pedal from being pressed down.

But, with the black goo in the slave cylinder present, bet you're in line for a new slave cylinder and a new master cylinder to match.

How easy should it be to push the slave in with you hand?

Since u said pedal assembly is good. Then +1 on the new slave and master. Can't go wrong with replacing them. For one could fix your issue, and doesn't hurt to have new parts that aren't to expensive. I would recommend buying OEM master cylinder, don't buy a reman, OEM is the way to go.

I guess ill replace master and go from there. Ill keep everyone in touch!

Kinda suprized no one asked this... When it warms up and you say it doesn't go into gear at all, Does the trans grind? Knowing that could help pin point your problem.

Yes it does grind, but only if I try to force it into gear.

Did you replace the master cylinder or atleast check it to be in working order?

How do you exactly checm it? Theres no leaks and the slave rod is adjusted, and how hard should it be to press the slave in with your hand??

mine does the same thing but only when its cold..once warmed up it alot better still hard to get in but better then when cold.have replace clutch master and slave, tranny oil next im goin to buy shifter cables and see if that helps.my cables are pretty tore up looking.:banghead:

Well let me know! i'd like to rip up my block at least once more before the snow starts to stick

In reply, the slave cylinder should be easy to push in by hand. If you can't, the adjustment rod is out too far.
