When do they pop?

Its been awhile (8 years) since I've been on these forums. Just bought my old gsx back from the guy i sold it to who ruined the piston rings on it and let it sit in the baking sun for for the last 7 years. The sad thing is this car only has 60k original miles on it and looks like $*%&. Anyway, I'm rebuilding the engine now and I'm wondering how much these stock auto trannys can take. I know they will last longer with a better cooler which I'll get around to when I'm not broke as $*%& from this rebuild.
So whats the general consensus on hp limits on a unmodified auto? Is it gonna hold up from continuous launches brake standing on the stock converter? Also, is there anywhere to still get those end clutch kits? Can't find those little bastards anywhere.

About 400 hp in stock from give or take.

I'm no expert on auto but I know that the auto tranies are fairly strong. The first thing to blow will be the torque converter. You can get an upgraded one for a few hundred and run like hell

I made 464 on a stock converter and hasn't blown yet. Also trapped 127 in the 1/4. Everything is stock on my trans minus the translab shift kit and force four plus shift box.

I have burned up on set of end clutches though. So that's where I would start. I just threw a stock one in so I could make the track. I have my alto end clutches on order.

Attest do the full pressure shift mod (blue wire mod)

Just do something to up the pressure enough to get firm shifts and it'll handle a lot.

the blue wire mod s not always a good idea. made my pump drive gear explode in 3 pieces.
