Okay so I've been getting this grinding noise since about a week and a half ago (I'm trying not to drive the car so much, but have to because of school). It's been getting worse since then.

At first I thought that it only made the noise when accelerating coming out of right-hand turns, because that's when I first heard it. I read some threads on grinding because of a ball joint, so I jacked up the car to see if the front wheels moved irregularly. Everything seemed fine there although, I'm not sure if this is normal or not but I was able to rotate the tires back and forth just a bit (this was with the parking brake on). Also when the tires would stop I could see the engine moving just a bit.

Now a couple days ago I was headed uphill, and when I started to accelerate a bit the grinding noise came back. It only went away when I let off a bit.

Anybody have some experience on this issue? It would be much appreciated.

By the way this a 2g with an auto tranny and 135,xxx miles on the clock.

Crank walk? I don't have any experience with this or much with 2g's, but i remember hearing you can hear some kinda sound when turning hard.

Oh man I hope not. Would you happen to know if there's any simple way to check for that?

Oh and its not only when turning either. It happens on uphill acceleration too

Its cool. Hopefully some more people will offer what they know.

going around turns sounds like wheel bearings to me, but mine did not grind mine shook like hell. now it's wheel spacers ### of aftermarket rims. all the same if you jack it up just maybe take the tire off and check brakes, tire rods, and everything else for something loose or broken.
