72k spun a bearing in my 7bolt... 2 yrs ago

swapped in a 6bolt with 110k on the ticker and about to test out the fp green for the summer. should be an awsome season

seems like alot of us have spun bearings. LOL :D

Bought my car Aug. 15 2003. 3 days later it spun piston #3 rod bearing with 147,000k. Rebuilt it before X-mas 2003 and it spun another rod bearing 2,500 miles later . Everything else was fine with it, even the compression. Not sure which rod it was the last time tho because i never tore it down and I bought a 6-bolt engine with 91,000k and went ahead and did a turbo conversion. Now my tranny is gone  . Just your typical DSM luck. :p ................But the motor runs great :thumb:

I have 164,000, still has almost stock compression readings, uses no oil/ Only replaced belts tensioners timing belt. PLanning to rebuild this winter though.

110k miles I wrecked and rebuilt the motor , the thrust on the crank was way out of speck had to get it ground back to spec. Still in the process.

148K miles on the odometer. Went to do simple maitenance and in the process found out I was loosing compression through the vavles and valve seats. So, I'm currently in the process of swapping in a 6 bolt I'm building myself.

Need more money.. :)

Lost the original engine in my N/A Talon at 263k - HG blew. I knew something else was wrong though because I had what sounded like rod knock but it wasn't (balance shaft bearing died). Pulled the motor out of the car to do a full gasket replacement 'cause it was leaking like a seive, and found pistons that had falled victim to detonation (ring lands broken off and rings destroyed).
It was gonna cost more in parts to rebuild that motor than it was to buy an engine out of a junkyard with 150k miles on it, so I just bought another motor and swapped it in. Running strong again - the TSi AWD's engine was wrecked when I got the car, it's a work in progress.

96,000 miles, put about 12,000 miles of my own, heard the nastiest rod knock of my life...LOL..... Spun rod bearing on cylinder #3 and balance shaft bearing bit the dust :thumbdown. Picked up a 91 6-bolt motor about 3 months ago, totally rebuilt the beast and planning on putting it into the car in about 2 weeks :thumb:

on my '93 twisted a rod @ 69,000 miles. (28lbs of boost on pump gas with alch injection + stock internals = bad)

2.3 SBR 6 bolt swaped in.. car got hit, motor coming out and going into a 95 GSX i just bought..... when will the garage time end?!

well, it's not a full engine rebuild, but it still cost me a lot of time and money. i had to rebuild the top end near 140k. i started blowing oil into my header - bad valve on the 3rd exhaust port. while i had the head off the pistons and cylinder walls still looked great. being naturally aspirated, i can only hope that my motor will last me another 50k while i finish college and save up for a tsi or gsx. :thumb:

I ended up rebuilding mine at 223112 miles.............the pistons rings finally let go......I was kinda dissapointed cause it was all original and it was fun beating up on cars with such a used up motor :dsm:

I spun a rod bearing hitting my rev limiter in first racing a crotch rocket :thumbdown

This was at 149k miles

 LOL... thats exactly how i spun a rod bearing in the 87 vette i used to have. When i told my dad how it happend he just said..."why the hell were you trying to race a bike anyways"?

91 n/t 117,000 miles broke a rod, that bent the balance shaft locking up the oil pump starving motor for oil, still ran slipping the timing belt on the sprocket, then finally seized. Put a used turbo rotating assembly in (used bearings and all) lasted 11k with boost till i melted a piston and head.

well i'm doing a full rebuild now about 8,000 miles after my top end rebuild. something went horribly wrong. don't know what it was or why, but i smashed all my vavles. i have about 149,000 on the odometer. i'm doing a g4cs swap. should run stronger than ever and i estimate that i'll be pushing 200 naturally aspirated horsepower when it's all done. :thumb:

Oil pump failure this winter took down my engine that had 30,000kms on it. It was all orginal and un-opened :(

I had 134,xxx when i was cruising down the highway. all the sudden i heard a weird noise, and my tach went way up, and wouldn't come down. I got off the road as quick as possible and shut it down. found out the rubber between the TB elbow and TB had come loose, and jammed in my TB forcing it open. Well, I guess it spun far enough up the RPMs for just long enough to spin a rod bearing. and part of the gasket got split and made it all the way down one of the intake runners. Fortunately didn't ruin a valve. but, i got the heads redone anyway. might as well. ;)

My blew at 65,000 miles after It was stolen by a mechanic. Long story very long, insurance screwed me so now I am waiting for my day in court. Piston form #3 is in a thousand pieces, rod snapped in two, nice hole in the block, balance belt snapped also bending 5 valves. Meanwhile I'm rebuilding the 7 bolt. Hopefully be up and running in two weeks!

129k developed rod knock and spun a bearing running 24 lbs on stock 7bolt bottom end with stock injectors. (I was trying to blow it up as an excuse for a built 6 bolt swap) hehe then 2k miles later my flywheel exploded

Oh yea, and my 93 gsx's timing belt gave out and valves kissed pistons at 87k rebuilt with 8.5:1's and big rods.

120k, terrible blow-by was blowing out every seal on the engine. Probably bad rings, but I haven't taken off the head to find out. I bought a JDM engine instead of rebuilding.

bougtht car w/51k on it, crank walk at 54k... new 7bolt `99 shortblock from mitsu and was back on the road again until 105k.

EIther soun a rod bearing or balance shaft bearing, definately balance shafts were so bad that I had to cut the timing cover to get them out...

SHould have my 6 bolt in and running by tommorrow pm.
