After reading thread after thread I have noticed a lot of hostilities towards "ricers". I dont understand why!! We are ALL "ricers". We drive cars that are from Japan. I could understand if it were Mustand or Corvette drivers. But fellow DSM drivers?!?! I mean think about itfolks....some of us have body kits, wings, rims, and other custom exterior work. And some of us are strickly performance people. I'm into both personally. But we are all "ricers" in a since because we all drive imports. :dsm:

Idk but check out my new kit forum and youll definitely find rice remarks in there. And im gonna say this b4 any one hates on Aurora-Hybrid about sayin our cars r from japan, yea they arent its part chrysler or sum crap idk too long to explain, ok there its sayd.

Normal Illinois that all i have to say about that.

I think ricer is a fake racer. i.e. ricer is sombody that is faking a fast car. Thinking that an exhaust system is a muffler bought off ebay or any muffler at all. Having a gauge pod with useless gauges. A wing for down force thats not needed since the car can't top over 120 anyhow. Copying somthing that their not. Race cars have stickers cause there sponsered. Ricers have stickers cause they think there a sponsered race car. I have seen rice burners with bigger tires in the rear on a fwd vehicle. When you have 8 lights on the front of your car cause you think you are a rally car on the way to the gas station. Get the point. I think also its from american muscle heads pickin on japanese cars prolly out of jelousy. Most 4cyl vehicles are catagorized as an import.

Normal, Illinois is a long way from Japan there bud.... :thumbdown

Rice is over-used, He has clear taillights, OMG RICER. I personally think if someone actually took the time to do it, And made it look good, Not just through everything on half together, Then people should respect them. You're on a performance based site, I know I know.. But still, More latly then ever, This site is really starting to get over-run with fighting and bashing. It's pathetic. Just calm down. Everyone is signing up to this site and you cant even get through one thread on this site without an argument, Am I correct? I was looking last night and there were 6+ thread locked..

If you like it, Who cares what ANYONE thinks about it. That is what I think. Jealously comes to mine also, Even if they dont admit it. People dont like other people who have something nice, And they dont.

If you like it, Who cares :) :thumb:

I agree with the american muscle heads being jelouse statement. Thats why hearing ricer comments from them is something I'm used to. But it just bothers me to hear it from fellow DSMers you know? But you have to admit, when you see the fake racer cars, beating them feels so good. But if their car looks good, I give them props.

I agree. Ricer isn't japanese, it is bad japanese. It is just a term saying cheesy car. I consider a dodge neon with a big ass wing, primer body kit, APC anything and stickers everywhere a ricer. It is just a word for that specific stereotype of tastless vehicles.

I don't know, I consider my RS as a domestic car. Made in the USA and Chrysler motor.

Your from canada that would make it an import for you not a domestic. :D

Gotta get used to it guys. The second I signed the title to my esi, i knew it would go down like this. My car is not fast. rather slow, actually. I bought the car because I needed one and it looked good. I don't pretend its superfast by putting on an exhaust or intake, like a lot of people around my little desert town. I know that putting on a body kit isn't gonna add any hp. I don't strut around in parking lots lookin like a badass because i got bad ass tail lights, when if it came down to it, a lot of (big gasp) Honda's would beat me in a race. Surprisingly, not everyone knows this, and they give everyone else a bad name. Those people who think they are fast rev at stoplights and try to peel out, but still get wasted by a completely stock camaro. They give us a bad name. Just gotta deal with it. What I like best is when people misinterpret my fast driving for racing. Theres a huge difference between driving fast, and having a fast car. When I drive fast, its cause i'm late for work and don't wanna get fired on that particular day. Its not the car. Hell I could drive fast in my old '88 Reliant K. But that was not a fast car. Okay, way off topic, so i'll shut up now. sorry gang :D

I honestly dont care if people call my car rice... it turns heads, excites women, makes boost, and makes the honda crowd drool... :D

Well to me a ricer isnt just a japanese car. Even if it has the lights. Just when they put those really loud exhausts on and stop there with the performance and act like they are fast. Around where i live it is very common.

I believe ricer is basically anyone who only does all the bolt on stuff... now... respect goes to those people who fabricate things for their cars... Ricer is a person who thinks their car is going to be fast because they have no information and throw down a ton of money on all bolt on parts such as intakes and stuff and don't know really anything about what they are buying or getting into... respect goes to those guys that rip apart engines, play with the internals, stuff like that...

Rice has nothing to do with where a car is made or what it is. One of the riciest cars I see on a daily basis is a '96 Camaro, one of the nicest cars I see every day is a neighbors Prelude. The Camaro has a body kit, 19's, ugly wing, altezza's, and green window tint to "match" the paint. The Prelude run's low 13's and looks stock.

I help administrate one of the larger anti-rice sites on the web, and we have members and moderators with domestic cars and imports, along with a fair assortment of ricers. The general consensus is that rice is useless and/or ugly cosmetic modifications with no concern for performance.

I wish, for the last time, to tell you that DSMs are by Federal definition, American cars.

As for rice, we just don't talk about it on DSMtuners. It's the Type R word.
