Whats this hole in the strut tower??

Whats this hole?? Does mitsu make a rubber gromet or something that will plug it? Ive gone great lengths to keep my engine bay clean and id rather not have water splashing up onto my timing side..

Could it have been air ride,..because there is a hole on each of the rear strut towers also that were filled with factory structural glue stuff
I am going to try to find a different way to cover it than welding, maybe like what the prev. owner did for the rear??

I dont know how this car had air ride...I am the 3rd owner, first owner had service records and monthly slips up until 80k and the 2nd owner had records till i bought it..The only mods shown in reciepts were tokico blues at around 95,000 and a greddy intercooler at 95,000.

All wiring was stock, all interior pieces 100%....hmmm
