Is there suppost to be another photo?

I think what you are asking is why on some engines there's a filter and on others there is a line coming form that same spot. If that's the case, the filter acts as the "breather" when someone changes out the intake pipe that does not have the crankcase breather hookup anymore, as on the stock cars it would just recirculate back into the intake tube.

whats the difference between them then, like why would i put on the filter on instead of the tube to dump it back into the intake

That's a really well written article!
Thanks!

Yes it is and we have Craig (aka calan) to thank for that, sooo..... Thanks Craig :thumb:

Exactly what he said. Other cars will have the hose hooked up from the valve cover to the intake with a filter connected in the middle to help catch any oil being blown out and prevent it from entering the intake.

Actually it's what she said.:p

The breather is to vent air or gasses caused by temp changes and pressure that builds up under the valve cover.

Uhhh.. not really.:| There's actually more to it than that. Go back and read over the link I put in the third post.

Like 95talongirl said, if someone changed out the intake pipe for one that doesn't accept the breather hose they will just put the breather on the v/c like the one in your picture.

That's a good write up. I wouldn't run a filter off of the valve cover if I were you. If you don't have a place on your current intake pipe for the line, just drill and tap a new hole.
