why does 1 have a filter coming off the valve cover and 1 has a line going to the air filter

Exactly what he said. Other cars will have the hose hooked up from the valve cover to the intake with a filter connected in the middle to help catch any oil being blown out and prevent it from entering the intake.

The breather is to vent air or gasses caused by temp changes and pressure that builds up under the valve cover.
There's actually more to it than that. Go back and read over the link I put in the third post. whats the difference between them then, like why would i put on the filter on instead of the tube to dump it back into the intake
