Im looking at buying a wideband and was curious what brands are good and what ones to stay away from that work good with dsm link.

Dsmlink + innovates lc-1 = cake

Lc-1 is the best for ecmlink simply because of the programability for logging.

Now without link I would say the Aem uego simply because of the ease of installation compared to the pain in th ash install of the lc-1.

haha Thanks for the input ill go ahead and buy one of the innovate lc-1 and if its as hard as bradselph says ill be back posting about it when i get it LOL Thanks guys

The LC1 is only a little more complicated because you have to hook up the calibration button and LED, three additional soldering points. If you can solder and read, you can install an LC-1.

They're pretty much the same except the controller box is built into the gauge for the MTX-L. So there are some pros and cons to it this way. Deeper gauge, have to send gauge back if faulty instead of just the controller box, can't run any other gauge with the unit, etc. But you also don't have as much wiring to do I believe with the MTX-L.

A bit off topic, but others might be in the same boat:

What if someone has already purchased an AEM EUGO, and plans to have DSM link installed soon?

Would it be wise to swap over to the Innovative?

(dont mean to thread jack, figured it might be relevant XD )

Innovate MTX-L is MUCH better than the LC-1. Its newer and comes with a gauge automatically and there is no huge controller box, its all hidden in the gauge. The mtx-l has a serial output and has the 5v signal cable AND a narrowband simulator. It also has ports for datalogging and calibrating it via the computer.

No reason at all to buy the LC-1 unless its dirt cheap. DSMlink is compatible as well as Evoscan. Only reason people recommend the LC-1 is because its been around for a while, but the MTX-L is the new and definitely improved version. (it reads from 22.4 -something around 7 ?!?!? AEMs can't do that shit)

If you've got the money I would recommend the zeitronix zt-2 with the LCD display. You can hook all your gauges up to the display and runs very smooth with dsmlink

Just an FYI, but the LC-1 can do all the same things the MTX-L can do (both units are made by Innovate). As I stated before, all they did was move the 'controller box' to be built into the gauge.

I know, but the LC-1 doesn't always come with a gauge, and the controller box makes installation annoying sometimes.

I stay away from the cheap ones you think your getting a deal on. AEM, Innovate, and other top brands are what many people on the site are experienced with and can offer the best advice.

Ive used both the LC 1 and the AEM UEGO. I run the AEM now but kinda stuck with it since I didnt know much about it. I used the LC1 with my Evo and loved it, easy to install if you know your stuff and user friendly.

True, but that's why you purchase a package with a gauge - if required. For me, I use one with a non-Innovate gauge, so the MTX-L wouldn't be ideal. Some people don't use a gauge at all and just log the value.

Either way, what Eric mentioned about the separate sensor ground wire is what actually makes the LC-1 better.

I still disagree because the MTX-L has a serial cable for logging (not sure if the LC-1 does...) and is put together much better as a total package, but we all have our opinions.
Also you probably could cut/splice into the sensor harness to ground it solo which is really the only thing that it has going for it, but still if thats the only thing to complain about honestly, MTX-L FTW.
