ok so i want to get about 500 awhp out of my 1990 talon tsi awd, ive been into the whole lifted scene my whole life and now im building a talon. all that is done to my car right now is a dejon intake, crushed 1g bov, and a walbro 255 fuel pump. so what should i do to get 500 awhp, what turbo, what rods and pistons, im thinking 272 cams or bigger? but i dont really know, any help would be appreciated

Making real power like that isn't a "scene". There's nothing "to look at". There's hundreds of details. And for every detail there's at least 2 points of view. Since you're new to "actually modifying cars for more engine performance" then you should start at the beginning and read the modification paths already here on this site. You'll get to 500whp after you've learned how to.

You don't need much to get to 500 AWHP but to get their and your car still be stable is another thing.

My friend ran a totally stock 4g63 6 bolt motor with a large turbo (I can't remember what just remember it was larger than his old 50 trim) and fuel mods for about a month and a half on pump gas before it finally blew up. He made 505 on Lucas English's dyno.

Honestly, you really should just look into running E85 and get more engine mods than just slapping on a turbo it will last much longer and plus I don't know about you but I would rather not have to wait for boost to get the power. Just like everyone else said though there are hundreds of routes and builds. There is no way to say what is the best way to do it but there is defiantly safer ways than others.

im not going to go all turbo, im going to fully build my motor and everything, im thinking eagle rods and ross pistons, 272 cams, a fully built head, sheet metal intake, tubular manifold, obviously a fmic with hard piping, full 3 inch exhaust, also going to beef up my tranny for the power. i guess i didnt word it to well the first time, i was just kinda wondering if there were certain companies to stay away from when getting up into higher horsepower, and maybe companies i should go with. also which is better a 3 bolt rear or the 4 bolt? ive heard different things from different people.

Search function works great.... You'll find all the info you could possibly desire doing searches. I've made 30 posts in the past 6 Years if that says anything S.F.F Search Function First

Most people like to run a 6/4 combo. It's going to take a lot of time, effort, research, patience and MONEY to get to 500awhp and have it actually last.

If you want to go fast you have to pay the price. GTOs (random example) are ~400hp stock but also cost 20+k brand new and it's a "RELIABLE" give or take 400hp. I place reliable in quotes because nothing is made to not break...nothing.

Put it this way, I started buying parts/shell/odds and ends in February of 2009 and I'm like 9k in right now and I'm about 60-70% "done" on my way to reaching roughly 500awhp and have it be "reliable".

I finally am having my engine assembled, I'm going to send my head out to BogusSVO after I finally determine valves and springs, my transmission is going to be freshened up by a very reputable DSMer from Michigan (anyone need info let me know) and THEN it will be time for install and a tune...maybe.

As for parts, see what people run/what works, research, talk to the actual techs from the companies, consider price ranges and inquire from people on here. I talk to very reputable people and NEVER make a decision unless I'm 100% sure that is what I want ran in my engine or on my DSM.

Have you tried the search button? or even checking out the FAQ and the upgrade paths for your car? Have you researched your car? Your motor will be good for 500-600. It's not a D16.

Here are some things for you to look through, then you won't be asking these questions any more.

The more you read and search, the more you will learn.

Also, check out the classifieds. There are always DSMr's parting out their cars. You will save a lot of money for parts that have very few miles on them.

I wish I would of bought all my stuff used, instead of new. I would of saved thousands. Wish you luck

Every car is going to react different to different mods, you can't jump in a DSM and decide you want a 500hp car when you haven't even made 300hp.. Do your research, search through the forums and see what different setups people are running and see what will be right for you. There are so many different variations of 500hp, you could be building for drag, auto-x, time attack, rally etc etc. And for most of those, your gonna need a different kind of setup. With 500hp, the only turbo you'll be able to find to make that and have decent spool is probably a hx35 or hx40 off a Dodge Cummins. Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you, GL.

i will use me for an example. when i first got into dsm's i bought a car paid way too much thought it was what i wanted that was a year ago... i come on this sight every day and read in my free time and i have not even come close to as knowlegable as i should be to attempt to make 500 awhp.. read the forums read the problems that others are having and DEFFINATELY go into the parts/feedback forums guy's post positive and negative feedback all the time, this would be a good way to determine ## setup, learn from others mistakes... thats just my $.02. good luck, keep us updated and happy tuning! :hellyeah:
