Whats is this sensor?

I found a sensor that I have no idea what is does. It's attached to the intake manifold brace found under the manifold. It connects into the main engine harness. There is a second connector that leads to the knock sensor on the block. I have no idea what this other one is.

Any idea what it's for? Can I remove it. I want to free up some weight, so I planned on removing the braces for intake manifold as well as the rest of the AC parts (which I already did).


Every time I think I know this car, it throws me these curve balls.

Have you removed the emissions stuff yet? If not i would guess emissions, but without a picture you cant be sure.

That looks like the "condenser". A capacitor designed to help prevent interference from the ignition.

Ah! So that 's where the 90 noise filter mounts. That's needed for the tach circuit but to can remount it somewhere else as long as you ground the case like it is normally.
