I want some power but t28 alot easier to install. i dont have any fuel mods or anything so what turbo would do a better job @15psi??? and can i bolt on the t28 and im off and driveing my car?

Not completely useless--absolutely necessary to get any idea of whats going on at all once you start t uning in fact. It's just that the 2g pocketlogger pales in comparison to the 1g pocketlogger which pales in comparison to something like DSMLink.

but you made it sound like it wont measure knock or idc? thats what i need it for//?

It won't measure either. The nearest you can get to measuring knock is by looking at the timing curve and trying to find dips and then trying to tune with that and O2 voltages. Both methods are inaccurate for obvious reasons, and yes that blows, however the next cheapest option is probably DSMLink.

you said ## on a budget...your best route is the logger. dsmlink is like 600 dollars plus the ecu...and thats a pretty penny
watching the timing curve to see where timing is pulled and adding fuel there isnt REALLY bad when it comes tot uning, the problem arises when your talking about phantom knock which could be caused by lifters, spark plugs...etc etc...try the logger+ safc combo though...

I just went the upgrade route for more power but not a rocket.

If you want to add HP and spend the least amount of $$$ and effort. Check out the free performanc upgrades in tech tips.
1.) do the intake mod and add a 4 inch filter
2.) replace your upper intercooler pipe with a hard pipe and and 1g BOV.
3.) do the boost seloniod mod

If my car is any indication, you will add maybe 30-40 hp. If you want to keep adding do the stage 1 mods first, then consider a turbo.

Do not do the BCS mod--you'll get a CEL. A MBC really doesn't cost that much to begin with. The UICP and 1g bov is the first mod I did that really made a difference for me (after exhaust and intake).

I stand corrected. The important thing actually is to make sure you don't damage the BCS while doing it--THAT'S when you're screwed :coy:

The UICP and BOV would be my first upgrade, cheap, easy and added more HP than intake mod and exhaust combined.

he already has a BOV...and depending on the turbo he's going to I wouldnt get UICP's just yet...he may want to opt for a FMIC...

I'd say look at the 14b and moving to an FMIC...you can get an ebay core for a good price that will do whatever you need it to do on a 14b. Then look at getting UICP's and LICP(or purchase) for that fmic and new turbo. From there you'll need all the mods we listed earlier (fuel pump, logger, etc...) and you'll be in GREAT shape. Today, driving(go figure) I was actually thinking, and it came to my mind that I was under the impression that the SAFCII measures knock sum. So if you are that worried about not being able to see your knock, get an SAFCII. that way you'll have the logger to log your pulls and the SAFC will show you knock if it's getting out of control. Just a thought...

The SAFCII cannot be hooked up with 2gs to read knock.

Get a 14b, i have installed 3 in the past for freinds of mine, and each one had a smile on their face as they were leaving my shop. Get one one ebay, along with an install kit and your looking at no more than $200-$300
