Hey guys! I just got a 98 Eclipse Spyder GS and am just curious on what type of turbo I can fit in there? I’m not very familiar with turbos or these engines yet. I just bought this car a week ago so I’m not looking to install one right now but it would be good to know for the future!

Any links or names of turbos would be good. Thanks!

Welcome to the page. Please create a vehicle profile. I would start with the resource pages.

Did you originally pose a question about swapping a 420a on Reddit?

If so, I was the one chatting with you about how the Spyder has a 4G64.

You'l need (at minimum) Turbo, 02 housing, manifold, turbo oilpan (it has the return line port for the oil drain), injectors, fuel pump, AFPR, boost controller, oil feed and drain lines, intercooler, charge pipes, BOV etc. I'd recommend ECMLink for tuning but you could do an SAFC or whatever really.

If you plan on staying SOHC/stock motor then I'd get like a 14b or 16g and run it on low boost as a great daily.

If you go DOHC same thing but better performance

If you go DOHC/Built motor you can talk about what you really want to do. a 20g on a built 4g64 would spool instantly and be a riot.

The 14b is the factory 1G DSM turbo, the T25 is a 2g factory turbo (don't bother, it's a better hair dryer). 16g is found on a variety, there is a "big", "small" and "evo3" 16g with slight variances between them. The E3 is probably the best bet.
