I have a question for all those guys out there with the 6-bolt swap in their 2g's...what tranny do you use with it????...I am assuming the 2g tranny but I'm not sure...I have a 97 GST and my tranny's giving out...but I'm considering doing a 6-bolt swap as well...so would I use a 1g or 2g tranny...or are they the same...?????

Also, anybody know of any shops in CA that are proficient with the 6-bolt swap???

Definitely want to keep the 2G tranny, they are better built than the 1G. 1G has better motor, 2G has better transmission.

To fix a problem that the 2nd gen 7-bolt engines had called "Crankwalk". If you reply with a question like "what is crankwalk" then I'm going to tell you to go search. It's in our Frequently Asked Questions forum.

Thanks.

thanks I already knew that people swapped 1g engines into their 2gs but i didn't know that it was referred to as 6 and 7 bolt.

So if my transmission ever went out is it worth finding a 2g tranny over rebuilding it? Are they that much better?

when they call it a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt there refuring to the amount of bolts on the flywheel. 1g has 6 bolts 2g gas 7 bolts.

so you can attach a sg tranny from say a Eclipse GS onto a 1g Talon TSi (AWD) tranny or would it have to be a GSX 2g tranny?

AWD tranny has a center diff and also includes the need of a transfer case. You CAN use a GS-T or TSI in an AWD car but it will be FWD when all is said and done.:thumb:

NOTE: You cannot use a GS or ESI tranny in either.

does the dsm (90-94) have any lsd in it? These suckers are expensive and I just wanted to know
