6 bolt swap tranny bolts... pictures

I am finishing up a six bolt swap and I'm a little confused on the bolts for the tranny. 2g fwd tranny has five bolts to hold the transmission on... this six bolt motor only has 4 bolt holes to hold the transmission on.

The only thing that I can guess is that the 6 bolt 1g engine mount has a hole on it to bolt my 5th bolt to.

Here are pictures of what i'm talking about. I stuck a flat headed orange screw driver through the hole to make it stand out...

and here's a picture of the 2g 7 bolt motor. You can see where the flange is with two bolt holes on it.

isn't that going to weaken the transmission like it wasn't designed to be used?

if I got the 1g engine mount would i be able to use it?

With all the high powered 6 bolts in 2gs on this forum, Im sure you would see a problem more often, if it was a problem.

Find a place to bolt the 1g mount to the chassis. I bet you cant. :cool:

EDIT - I have seen guys use both mounts welded together, but that was because the lower ear on the tranny broke off, not because of a "weakened" tranny.
 
sweet, i'm more interested in reliability/dd, and haven't even bothered with upgrading my stock fuel/engine management (it hasn't broken yet :p ) so it won't be seeing that much torque... the crower rods and wiseco's pistons and bc 270's are waiting for it though... such a waste with a sleeper 16 running stock boost. :rolleyes:

time to plumb the emissions and do the cas re-wire and plug everything back in and run fresh fluids.

i love heated garages.

Im sure you meant 272s or 280s, but I get your point.
