Well, im going to be putting in a 2.3 stroker kit and will be taking the block to a machine shop. What needs to be done ? The walls will have to be bored .020 over and should i get it resurfaced ? Am i missing anything? I will be putting on a metal headgasket, so should i get the block or the head resufaced ? Im also thinking about get a valve job done to the head, what do you guys think ?

Bored, honed, hot tanked or whatever they call it to check for leaks, head resurfaced, freeplugs. The block is already there getting work done, have them check the whole thing. You dont want to save some money and lets say have a freeze plug leak because we all know if something bad can happen, it will and it wont be easy to fix later.

Just tell them to prepare it for a rebuild. They will inspect for cracks, bore and hone the cylinders, and align-hone if needed. They will check the deck for flatness, clean all the threads in your bolt holes, and clean the block as well. It is all normal stuff they do when preparing a block.

If you are getting 0.020" over pistons, tell them.

You should also have (minimally) the head checked for flatness. May also want to do that valve-job while you're at it.

I read somewhere that you have to do some clearencing for the stroker kit ? Is that something that i can do at home ?

anybody ?? I went with manley I-beam rods if that helps. Anyone run these and did you have to do some clearencing ?
