I have a bare 6bolt block and will build it up pretty soon. Has never been overbored. My hp goal is about 450. Should I just overbore .020? Or should I go 2.1, 2.3 or 2.4? I'd like to keep the car VERY streetable and on the mild side but still able to lay down a real serious ass whuppin'. I won't ever get one of those huge turbos, the ones with a lot of lag. Biggest I ever plan on going would be a 50trim. That enough for 450? Btw, would my car drive any different with JE, ross, arias, crower, carrillo, ect. compared to stock pistons & rods? Anyway, thanks ahead of time for lookin', any help appreciated. :dsm:

strokers are nice, but you can give an ass kicking without strocking it, its more reliable if you dont stroke it. i personally like ross pistons but i havent run them myself yet ive heard alot of good things about them.

even with the 50 trim on stock stroke you'll get some lag. to minimize lag as much as possible, go with the stroker. also try stay away from forged internals, they tend to expand/shrink under heat/stress situations and aren't as good for street use. on that note, the stock internals are good up to 500+ hp. a set of 1g big rods fitted with 2g pistons should treat you nicely.

Can I get some of what this kid is smoking? If you want a reliable build, for 450whp, yes, 1g rods and 2g pistons would probably work fine. If you want to give yourself some safety margin for tuning error (always a good idea), try Wiseco or Ross pistons and Eagle rods. Of course, get ARP hardware.

stock blocks have PROVEN to hold over 500+hp. many people will just run big 1g rods with 2g pistons instead of running aftermarket. and yes, arp hardware is a must.

Many people have built blocks on the street that have held up just as well as stock. There just happens to be more stock blocks out there.

If you want to go weisco/eagle there really won't be any issues.

IMO it's better to overbuild every aspect of your car than to underbuild. With that said, I say go forged internals. Eagle Rods, Ross pistons are a good cheapish combo and definitely will be good in the neighborhood of 450whp which you wanted to run.

I vote not to stroke the motor...It's cheaper, you can rev higher on the 2.0.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'll just stay the path of 2.0 liter w/overbore .020. I'll be taking my block to the shop pretty soon, bore it out, clean the threads, remove broken bolts, new plugs, ect. Any last second ideas would be cool, thanks everyone!
