So I will be deploying soon and while im gone I am going to start buying performance mods. Before I leave I will fix all my little problems and get a strong foundation. My goals are to have anywhere from 300 - 350 hp to the wheels so what should I buy that will get me to that? Which injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc? Thanks for your advice.

Use the Dyno Challenge, look through this forum. There are a dozen threads that cover that exact same power goal in the Newbie Forum.

Walbro 255 fuel pump, DsmLink V3 with eprom and socketed ECU, ID 1000 injectors, Cheap but good front mount intercooler with piping, and with those mods you will be able to run E85 and pull no less than 350 wheel.

You also have to consider the elevation. That plays a big part on how much power you can make.

Make a list on what you want.

Wally 255 Fuel pump

550+ injectors

Decent Exhaust

(Maf-t, ECM-LINK etc.)

Good tune

16g or even a 20G

You should be set with something of the sort. Maybe even add a clutch to the list, you don't want a slipping clutch.

like stated above wally 190, 16g (not that ebay crap):nono: 550, Manual Boost Controler, DSM link

ABSIT was right, if you would have used the search function you could have found out the info you needed just as fast as it took you to make this thread. Or if you had clicked on one of the threads that popped up before you started typing the thread too... Heres a basic horsepower upgrade path though. Next time search before you ask questions that have been covered time and time again.. Thanks

correct me if im wrong but in the rules for the newbie section it says not to reply to peoples post saying use the search button. Plus when I started the thread no suggestions popped up.

"No "Use the Search" replies - answer the question, link to the answer, or don't reply. It's okay to suggest to the user how to find the answer next time so long as you answer the question or link to the answer at the same time."

Your right it does say to not reply to threads with "use the search" but it does also say that saying that while proving a link to the answer is fine.. Which I did provide.

Lots of tuners say search because a lot of discussions have already been answered here, i learned everything i know by looking around. Similar topics so its not search but look around for already answerd questions.

Like previously said....your altitude is going to play a big part in what you will need.

i would suggest some 272 cams and some nice aem adjustable cam gears and some over sized pistons. eBay all the way buddy!!!:thumb: build the motor from the inside out first before worrying about turbos and injectors and fuel pumps...trust me!!!

^^^ Dont listen to this fool. These motors can stand upwards of 400 wheel horse on a stock bottem end. What kinds of products are you thinking about? I know how you feel though man, Im deployed right now as well. You can make a 350 hp goal with a 16g as well, so if you are looking for a smaller budget. But being as your deploying youll most likely have enough cash for some good parts. For the most part STAY AWAY FROM EBAY. Remember you get what you pay for. Venders that come to this site have awesome products and great prices. Extremepsi.com, Maperformance.com are both pretty great sites with good prices and have some deals going on now.

A good thing to know when dealing with aftermarkets is don't go for the "all" HKS, greddy, Apexi, or AEM. If you do so, you'll waste a lot of your money. DSMs have many smaller companies like Megan that tune perfectly in a 2G. Coming from a Honda prelude, I learned the hard way.

Ha I know I was going to say I thought I was told I could get around 400 hp without doing any internals. crash89 where are you deployed out of? Thanks for the info, I will have extra cash being deployed but I am still on a little of a budget because I am married with 3 kids and my wife is not on board with this project. So I will definetly not go the ebay route but the other guy was saying stay away from top name brand products. So which companys are cheaper but good for dsms?

The things I want to get before I leave are an aftermartket intake, upper intercooler pipe and BOV. Then when I leave I want to get a turbo, injectors, fuel pump, FPR. What electronics do I need because im thinking DSM Link, SAFC and wideband??

Don't stay away from them. AEM makes a great ECU. I'm just saying if you get a greddy exhaust, you don't have to get their turbos, intercooler pipes, etc. Remember just because their a top brand and are a cool purple and green their products aren't always the best for what you need.

... my wife is not on board with this project.

Keep it reliable. Stay closer to 350 than 400 WHP.

Buy good value, not cheapest. If you think it was hard to get agreement to buy a bigger trubo you really won't want to talk about buying another one because you have to drive her car until the DSM is fixed.

Don't go outside the box of what has been proven many times. Else practice "Honey I tried but I was wrong and need more money".

Enjoy a running DSM.

Ask me how I know; no don't

Oh - and ignore anyone who tells you to put over size pistons in a 4G63 as a way to get more power.

ok gotcha Rockyp. I think I will just buy a evo 3 16g and a evo 3 manifold and I have been using my wifes truck for a few weeks now anyway, plus I bought the truck, ha.

what is a good BOV to get as far as sound and performance?

Some ideas. Megan or Espelir for exhaust. RRE makes upper pipes with flanges for a 1G and an Greddy type S BOV for a good price and from what i heard, they work. Injen makes a good intake for DSMs, but kinda pricey. You'll have to search around for that. 750 850 or even 550CC injectors will work for what you're trying. There's tons of companies to compare on injectors. Wally's a good fuel pump. DSMlink is a better product than SAFC. AEM makes a nice wideband. Check around for downpipes and manifolds, can't forget to let it breathe. Then obviously think 16G when searching out o2 housings and manifolds.

Get the 1g you bov, lots of types your price is something youll have to consider, got my greddy and called it a day, good performer didnt care about sound just what it could.

Thanks Rocky. If I go with a 3 inch exhaust would I have to get the 02 housing downpipe and then have custom 3 inch piping ran to the muffler? And if I decide to get the HKS SUPER SQV3 ill have to get an uip that matches up with that right?

I would get a 50trim over a 16g for fwd. The 16g is cheaper but the little more lag from the 50trim will help with spin. Also in the future just turn up the boost and you can make a lot more than 350 with a 50 trim. I would get 880's or bigger if your using link since it works with idle well with bigger injectors. Also like said get the 255 not the 195 for the future. Why buy stuff twice.

I have a BW s256 and I love it. Internal or external wastegate is awesome and the spool isn't much slower than the 16g with some nice top end. :)
