What the mechanic wants to do

Well my water pump is leaking at the gasket on my 95 gst. I took it in this morning and he suggests of course a new timing belt, balancer shaft belt, cam seals and crank seals. I know I need the itming and balacner belt replaced but what about the cam seals and crank seal? Also anything else i should replace on there?

Its a mechanics job to upsell have him show you why you need new cam seals. My waterpump just went last month and it was cheaper to do the timing belt and water pump then just the water pump. Unless your dumping oil out you don't need new cam seals.

yep that's what i thought, i told him to hold off on those until i gave him the go ahead. what about the tensioners or pulleys? unless they don't need it don't worry about it? i am having him do the timing belt, balancer belt, water pump and accessory belts.
