Hey guy's im Tila and im new to the DSM fourms. I bought my Mitsubishi spyder GS-T convertible about 3 weeks ago and i have some questions mabe you guys can help with. i bought it for 2500 with 92,106 miles on it. I LOVE my dsm and i want to take great car of it. Im going to make a youtube video so you guys can see what im talking about. First off the engine is bone stock to the most of my knowlege. when i first drove it home it was horible and it kept shaking in every gear and loosing most if not all of its power. I did reaserch and found out the stock blowoff valve was releasing all the BOOST so i bought a ebay one and put it in there and it works great! also the turbo is stock and it screetches when i boost. Every thing is stock and i need to know WHAT IS THE BEST things to do FIRST. My experenced rotary friend told me to first upgrade the stock intercooler, Upgrade the stock turbo to a ebay one that fits the DSMs, Get a new synthetic oil change, Upgrade all the crapy stock hose to HARD pipes and get cool air intake kit. get new sparkplugs and new silicone vacume hoses and also cut the cats out and make it 3 inch straight piped all the way. [I already took the muffler off my self] Im very new and im not sure what to do FIRST. I need your guys opinion on what to get done first in the best cheepest good way. Thanks TILA i dont even know if its a 2g or 1g...

Generally it's best to take pictures after the wash joba. Also stay away from ebay. Read upgrade paths

You can follow the upgrade paths on this site. I would have smacked your rotary friend as soon as "EBay turbo" left his mouth. Leave the EBay turbos to the Honda kids (like myself atm). The stock intercoolers on our cars are good for a while really as long as you remove the splash guard inside of the wheel well behind the side mount. From first hand experience, enhancing airflow both on exhaust and intake side really helps. 3" exhaust and smooth/hard intercooler piping will help. Your upgrade path and order really depends on your wallet and objectives. Me being the poor person I am just nit-picked at the upgrades. Link is something I really should have gotten and could have afforded it with how much I nit-picked.

Grab an un-crushed 1G BOV, they sound great and hold boost very well. Its also an OEM part rather than Chinese EBay quality. Try to stray away from EBay parts, I've learned my lesson on multiple occasions, and look at where EBay parts landed me. Driving a Honda.

I'm guessing that you have the T-25 in there still? Change that for whatever you want, Its probably not going to flow as much as you'd probably like. With the stock fuel system, don't get anything too crazy. 16g and variances are GREAT.

Personally, first thing you should grab that's over $100, a Wide-Band Sensor/Gauge. If you plan on using link, grab the Innovate setup, people always complain about using UEGO with LINK. Head over to your exhaust shop with the sensor and bung, mine charged me $40 to weld it on and let me work in their shop for a bit playing with it.

Grab a boost/vac gauge as well if there isn't already one in there and tap it into your FPR vacuum line. The stock gauge is a guesstimation of sorts because airflow is calculated before the turbo and absolute manifold pressure is basically impossible.

Already said but I will say it again maintenance is key. Must do the timing belt and water pump if you do not know for sure when they were done.

I would take care of that turbo and then do tune up and maintenance, then my first mod would be link
+1 on this advice, I would replaced the timing belt and components using an OEM timing tensioner. Change the spark plus(NGK copper plugs), engine oil and trans oil. If your upgrading the intercooler and not looking to spend more the 500, look into getting a VRSF. Also a downpipe and exhaust would make the car breath a little better. Megan downpipe is cheap and you can have an exhaust shop custom make you an exhaust with your choice of a muffler. FP(Force Performance) is one of our vendor who make great products such as FP intake, filter and turbo. As for turbo you can get a first gen 14b or 16g MHI from the classify or local Craigslist. I suggest you support our vendors here before they decide to cut the dsm products. Please read the vendor review as some vendor are pretty crappy.

No Ebay turbos. Welcome to the DSM game. Hope you brought a big enough wallet :thumb:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying from Ebay. Ebay is just a place that people sell things. I've bought quality parts from Ebay and never had a problem. Make sure you look at the seller reviews and ask as much question about it as you can. If it sound shady then don't buy it. Do not buy Chinese turbo on Ebay that would be my only advice.

I know you dont want to hear it again but do the timing/maintenance stuff. Its kind of a bi*** to do for the first time but its a must do!

Thanks guy's already this information helped out alot im gona post a vid and also more pictures of the engine so you can see whats up
