I am looking at selling a stock 4g63 out of a 97 TSI with only 90000 miles on it. It runs great and everything is correct and stock. The motor is complete with alternator and starter. What do you guys think I should try to sell it for?

Not an expert, but I have been looking around at engines. First, I wouldn't call 90k low mileage, it's low for the year but it's not actually low. A salvage yard or mechanic would probably charge 8-1200 for that particular engine and include a warranty, but as a private sale you can expect to see 3-800, sorry the ranges are so wide, that's just what I've seen.

So I would be out of line asking $750 by the sound of it. If I really want it gone I should put it up for $500? My thinking was to keep it for parts for my sons 95 Tsi because it runs so good.

id say around $700 if its just the motor from oil pan to valve cover with no ancillary items (manifolds, brackets, etc), and it came from a running car and you have a compression readout. Receipts of the timing belt stuff helps alot, new owner will like knowing it was done, how long ago and what was actually changed.

id easily buy a ready to install/ready to run motor for $700 if it came with all that.

I have seen Engine and Tranny for less than $1500.. I constantly check every other month just to see whats out on the market...

I mean if what you are asking how much would we or I pay...

Definately no more than $800 on a semi to good working engine!

idk why that guy said its not low mileage....90k on a engine from a 97? dude its 2010 LOL thats 13 years..my mom hyundai is a 06 and it has 88k on it....that means that engine has hardly been driven at all!

id say about 800

Here motors like that are in the 5-7 range. Or, you can buy a complete POS car with a decent motor for that price, just depends.

Just bought a used JDM 6 bolt for $400. No turbo or exhaust, OFH, water pipe...

I'd say 4-500 also. I think your $750 asking price would be a good starting point, but be ready to come down with it.
