I got a 97 GSX and was wondering what exhast and headers i should get. I was thinking about Apexi N1 exhaust. Also does any one have an N1 with a silencer in it? :dsm:

Do you have any other modifications? Your car does not have headers, it has one exhaust manifold. You do not need a different exhaust manifold until your modification list has grown substantially and even then, the necessity is still debatable. As for the N1 exhaust, it seems to be a popular configuration however I have no direct experience with it. Searching for "N1" will probably come up with more information that you can read in an afternoon so my recommendation is to do it. Find yourself a boost gauge, boost controller, hard intake pipe, and a service manual to go along with whatever exhaust configuration you choose to purchase.

By the way, you don't got a '97 GSX, you have a '97 GSX.

First mod you should do is a boost gauge. Than next mod you should do is a blow off valve. Than intake, boost controller, fuelpump (or rewire for now), exhaust (2.5 inch exhaust if you know you won't exceed over 350 HP). These should be performed after a proper tune up and compression check to see if its even worth it. Anyway, I hope that helps and good luck with the car. :thumb:

are you modding a honda or something? :toobad: proper term or not, I hate when i see that damned term.

anyway,
The exhaust manifold and exhaust combination has been asked and beat to death. IMO, a ported 2g manifold, tubular o2 (recirc) + 3" DP and catback is all you need. Doesn't matter what brand, how bling bling it is, how much it costs. As long as it meets those requirements you're golden.

with that said here's my setup, it sounds great and cost next to nothing:

gasket matched and ported collector and runners : 2g manifold
gasket matched, waste gate divider cut down, and FULLY to ported 2.5" : 2g o2
AHP 2.5" downpipe
AHP 2.5" testpipe
RNR 3" catback piping
ebay speshul deluxe l33t n1 knockoff slant tip 3" muffler.

cost? ~350. and it damn well performs just as well as a full 3" carbon ti exhaust, SS 3", megan racing, etc. :thumb:

I believe it is worth mentioning that purchasing AHP products is no longer an option anymore unless something used can be found.
