My son blew another 14B and now we have a chance to get a brand new polished Mitsu
20G turbo for $500. The car has 510's on it now and I would like to step up the injectors. I was thinking maybe 660's but we are going to stay with the SAFCII. I just need to know what ones I could run safely with the 20G. Would the side mount IC still work if I stay around 14-15psi on the 20G.

Are you still on the stock fuel pump? If you are then larger injectors aren't going to help at all.

I would suggest upgrading the intercooler as well since you will be getting pretty close to maxing out the stock side mounts cooling effiency.

Whether you go with a larger side mount or a front mount kit is up to you. Upgraded side mount would probably be the cheapest if youre on a budget and will get the job done if you plan on keeping it to 14-15 psi. If you plan on going bigger or running more boost in the future go with a front mount kit theres no point spending money on 2 intercoolers :dsm:

theres also no point in fuel injector limit. but then again it all depends on what are you controling them. if you are going safc, then 650 would be ok.

but if i where you i would go dsmlink. because i bet anything you are gonna want some more power and you would want to bump the boost up a lil bit later in the future.

I would go with 850's and dsmlink. The 650's will do but it may be a little tough tuning. Also if you dont have the money the stock intercooler would work but not to good at 15psi on a 20g. Im having problems with my intercooler heat soaking and Im running 11psi on my evo16g.

850cc's is overkill for that psi. Unless it's in your near future to run loads of boost. 650ccs should be fine for that boost level....even 560ccs. Keep in mind you could also turn up fuel pressure to compensate for injector and higher octane also compensates for injector as well. Your datalogger you show this if you know what to look for. stock I/C = :toobad:

He was saying he is going to run 15psi because of the stock IC I think. I dont think 850's would be over kill because why would he want to repurchase injectors if he wanted to run more boost. And I was only saying this if he would get dsmlink. 650's if he stays with the safc.

You can never have to big of injectors, turbo, intercooler, exhuast. Thats my moddo LOL

The car is my sons and he is only 17 so his money is limited. I want to run lower boost levels mainly because he has a heavy foot and the car has near 300,000kms on it.OMG He may invest in DSM link in the future but right now he just wants his car back. We have a line on a brand new extreme intercoolers FMIC for hopefully $500. Now I just need to find some 650's or 660's for cheap!

Thanks

Marty

Can I just install the 20G with the 510's and run it of the wastegate until we find the right injectors?

You can run the 510's on a 20g but you will probably max them out really quickly, not sure if they will be enough to run 15 psi but you should be able to get away with WG actuator pressure no problem. You have a logger, so that the only real way to see what boost you can run. Also you said you have an adjustable FPR so you can always bump the base FP abit to get abit more out of the injectors.

I may have found some 550's. So I will try them and if need be turn the fuel pressure to about 45psi, run about 15 pounds of boost and see what happens.

Unless your getting a really good deal on these I wouldn't bother. They will probably work now if you keep the boost fairly low but as soon as you want to crank it up at all you will need to upgrade again. Seems like a waste of money, like I said unless your getting a really good deal.

my friend has a mirage with a 20g, he has 650's. it runs great, but he keeps blowing the head gasket. but with 650's and a walbro 255, and an aftermarket fpr, you should be fine.

Your friend needs to lower the boost abit or tune better :D

I maxed out my 550's when I had my 20g set at 16psi. One of my friends ran 11.0 on 550's but that was with c16. I have always been fine with the 680s, but now im going to a diferent setup. I ran a best of 11.6 with the 680's and the 20g at 19 psi on my 9:1 motor.

I also found another 14B and I was thinking of doing the front mount kit, 550's and doing the turbo later. I think the 20G would be great but with possible cooling and fuel issues I think the other way would be better. Last time on the dyno after 1 run the stock IC was SO hot. I think some good gains could be had from the FMIC. What do you guys think?
