My friend has built a car with these specs
Intake; jmfab race w/ nitrous bungs , edelbrock direct port nitrous (100 shot) speed density, tial 50mm bov, *sigh* and an ebay fmic dont remember specs but 3" thick, and intercooler piping. S90 throttle body Exhaust; Punishment racing exhaust manifold. *sigh again* and an ebay 44mm wastegate, made my own exhaust Turbo ; questionable.Garrett not sure which exactly it is when i measured the wheels they were slightly larger then a gt35r but has a .58 t4 exhaust housing. Fuel; sumped stock fuel tank, -8 feed line , single inline bosch 044 currently, aeromotive afpr and fuel rail, fic 1050cc's, some jegs fuel filter. Stock ignition
Engine internals; Wiseco 8.3:1, Eagle rods, all arp hardware, balance & blueprinted. Head; ferrea dual spring valve springs, 1mm os titanium valves, comp cams 101202(what the box says) ported&polished, 5 angle valve job cometic headgasket, arp studs
thats with race head, stock head would be - the springs and valves
mind you , i still want to put the springs in
turbo is a t4 t67

He bent the valves when putting on his race head and decided to use a stock head because its been a project he has put together for over 2+ years and wanted to run it. I tell him that he should get money and put his race head on but he says that people are running 10's on stock heads (which i believe) and that his race head probbly wouldn't make his car much faster. With a setup like that planning on running 35+ pounds of boost would having his race head on his motor be a day and night difference compared to his stock head? hes registered on here but feels he would embarass himself asking.

Race Head or Stock Head with Springs and comp 101200 cams??

Also sorry if this broke any rules or is one of those annoying threads that always pops up, i figured newbie section would be appropriate

I had the same intake manifold as your friend, with a stock 1g head, with BC288 cams, and ran a 10.14 at 138 last year! I don't see why you would want to get a built head until its needed...I don't think its needed till well into the nines.

Dave's trap speeds went up considerably with the ported 2G head over the unported 1G head that was run last year with no other changes made except the intake manifold. Gained an easy 6-7 mph in the early part of this season.

I think it's all in what your setup is like. Sure a built head is going to make more power- they always do...otherwise they would be a waste of money; but I'm not confident that it's going to make or break your setup if all of your other supporting mods are up to par.

Just make sure you have enough valve spring for whatever cams you're running! :thumb:

The 2g head is better engineered, the intake velocity is higher, and the exhaust velocity is higher, higher exhaust velocity = faster spool. Faster spool = more MPH.

There is a huge debate over which head is better, you need to read as much as you can before you decide which is better for your personal needs.

I think I remember the debate from years ago , was volume vs velocity ? Or something along those lines. I honestly don't want to switch to the other head because I feel like it won't make much difference.
