i regestered on the srt forum to see if i could get the parts i need cause their arent any srts in any junkyard anywhere near me, but most of those guys were pricks. i really appriciate the support, you all have been far more pleasent to converse with than the srtforums. i have thought about building an intake, but ive got my eye on an edelbrock intake on ebay, its only on there like every other month, so next time around ill have to pick it up. i have driven the car, and its got mad torque, but it cuts out at 2500 rpm. tranny bolted right up, and the mounts werent difficult at all. the wiring was a biotch!! i think it will be much faster than my dd(08 solstice gxp)

Nice!!! I have been wondering on this since i bought my o4 srt-4..... Since im going to a Big wheel Stage3 on the srt im gonna have lots of part to play with on my 97 talon n/t.
Check out Modern Performance For a ported srt intake mani. Trust me you will see why. Its one of the biggest restrictions in the srt-4. Ya srt forums can be a little harsh at times. and if you are running a true SRT-4 motor Look into a stock or mopar stage1-3 ecu. they will run with stock, s3 or any other turbo you want as long as its getting the fuel it needs. Guys run 50trims on stock ecus & s1s with map clamps fuel return lines and good old walbro 255s.
Stay away from the stock srt fuel system its another restricting thing. How are you get your fuel to the motor? No gas No go.... you might be getting fuel cut...... If so you need to take the steps needed to get the fuel the motor wants and NEEDS! your motor leans out from lack of gas and burns out....... Scrap the pt ecu your srt td04 is not even at full spool 2500. The mopar s1 comes with injectors its like 550. i think new best place is to check the for sale in srt forums sad to say... most people stage there srt then sell there stock stuff. or put it back to stock and sell there stage kits. I seen stage 2 and 3 ecu for 300. on there. Well Best of luck :thumb:

Megasqirts ok but a mopar ecu with a return line is much better no tune no fuss..... Set a 1.1 fpr hooked to boost vac line from the intake mani. to the right psi make sure the afr is good so you are not going lean and dirve All day every day. stage 2 & 3 they allow you to wot shift with the boost held and if you get the turbo toys with it. dial a boost with 3 settings and high octain mode. with 100+ oct you see around 40-60whp gain at the push of a button and come with 682cc injejectors as well.
 
Very cool swap! Gives the 420a guys another option to go with so you're more of pioneer that others may follow. What kind of block is the SRT engine anyway? I know they have some impressive numbers on the dyno and at the track.
Go to srt forums. Go to the how to,s in the forums go into srt4/neon service manual. there is every thing you will need to know. you dont have to register to do so. lots of good info there.
 
like i said, it was low budget, and the pt intake perfoms just as good for half the price. and i hate that i had to cut the hood. putting the motor in wasnt to bad, but wiring that mofo up was a pain. it drives, but i need a new pcm, the one in it is for a pt turbo and its out of an auto, so it redlines a 2500 rpm(like its in park) but i used the stock tranny.(5 spd) and thanx for the positive input!

Stock srt T850? if its the 03 get a lsd from mopar or slow boy 04-05 came with them. if its a t350 get it out asap its going to blow to bits and back once you get the power to it.
 
I hear the SRT4 transmission eats up high performance clutches like no tomorrow.

they do ok on the stock as long as you keep it under 350hp over that you need the mopar upgrade good for around 450hp most of the aftermarket staged clutches hold up well.
 
I give you mega credit for the swap...have you thought about a SMIM or fabricating one?
 
contact AMM (all_motor_mike) he is THE MAN when it comes to intakes for any neon. he is on here, as well as neons.org. i highly recomend him.
pretty original, you do have to get rid of that intake though, and then you might be able to get it all under the hood.

props to you. reminds me of my project, only in reverse LOL.
 
first off, congratulations on the swap. and yes the intakes compared to all other neons is different.

to the guy that said they are all plastic except r/t's, look a little closer. all 1st gen dohc had aluminum intakes and then some 95 sohc had them too. the only 2gs with aluminum intakes were the srt and the magnum sohc's.

as stated before, go to amm or just get a stock neon srt4 intake
 
yea, im running a holset .50 trim, 660 cc injectors 255 lph fuel pump, aem fuel rail (for a 96 gsx) ive had a lot of support from my friends, if it werent for thier bad luck(wrecking thier cars) i wouldnt have such luck. my friend preston totaled his 03 srt4 so bad everything attached to the motor was wasted, turbo, intake, the fuel rail broke in half, bell housing was destroyed, front right rim broke off the lug nuts, blah blah blah. my friend richard threw a rod through the block of his 96 gsx, and he gave me his turbo, fuel delivery, cf hood, and his brand new clutch-for an 88 civic hatch i paid $400 for. i got the car from my g/f. for $600(blown motor). so far thats $1000. and ive spent $978.23 on stuff along the way, like the intake($150). pcm(75) stuff to bolt the motor down, intercooler, wire, i got an safc2 for $120, and a greddy turbo timer for an eclpise titanium 12 and some other stuff, but i just tallied it all up from the recipts. id say another $500 or so and it will be done. i just got my hands on a sloboy 32 inch intercooler, but i think its way to big. that mofo is HUGE!!
 
Real nice for the price. Well looks like your fuels taken care of. Id get a stock srt ecu you should be good with the suport mods you have for it. As for the slow boy fmic if your running a 50 trim it should be good you might see a later spool on the 50 trim but intake temps will be cooler. How much boost you gonna run? Guys run 25-30 psi all day on stock str motors I want to see some 1/4 times once you get things worked out. It should rip. A stock srt-4 with a driver can rip mid 13s at around 100mph and top out a 155mph box stock. Srts with 50trims and your mods put some stupid numbers down on a dyno 400+whp... So with out the pt intake will the hood uncut clear the motor and close ok?
 
im not sure about the hood clearance, but i think it wil fit. if not i will get another hood and cut it to fit the stock intake then build a scoop to cover it. id rather have a hood scoop than a hole.
 
i had planned to run 28, but im not trying to do this swap again, so im thinkin 24 psi. it will most likely spike anyway. i expecting a spike of 26-27 at most.
 
so i took the eclipse to a show(locally) and one of the judges drove an srt4. so i got beat by a 1g non turbo sohc eclipse, with a wing taller than the car, and a 4 tone body kit. not to mention the torn seats. my car was clearly a better candidate for 1st, but i guess i pissed the guy with the srt4 off, just by having that swap.
 
Seems stupid to me that all these srt-4 guys get thier panties in a wad over you having this swap. Don't they realize that DSMs were a collaboration between Chrysler and Mitsubishi; and the stock srt-4 comes with a Mitsubishi TDO4LR-16Gk turbo.:rolleyes:

Yea trust me, i got beat by a bodykit eclipse with more "Rice" parts than you can imagine ROFL But you just gotta remember, its a show which means they're looking for full custume...
 
These neon guys are crazzy for saying stupid remarks to this transplants. first of all, all us dsm owners should laugh at them for owning a hanging 4 door car. every srt4 owner i have ever met thinks that their car is by far the best on the road, but yet there are a million regular ones on the road which makes the srt4 nothing special to see. do you see 80 year old ladies driving eclipses??? the answer to that question is no because an eclipse is an eclipse, stylish, 2 doors, a sports car and very fast! what is there to diss? atleast we have true sport cars and not a compact sedan LOL. these guys r crazzy. if anything they should be proud that an owner of such a car would consider to put a neon engine in it!
 
good point gdem69, but what about the sti's and evo's? but i definately agree, every person ive met with an srt4 thinks its baddddddassssss. my favorite thing is tell them "nice neon dude" and have them be like "ITS NOT A NEON!!! IT'S AN S-R-T-4!!!!|" all seriously haha. and a lot of my friends were like nice chick car dude, but they're all pretty ignorant when it comes to cars, most of them can't even change their windshield wipers. dsm ftw :)
 
OMG!! Dude I was just talking to my Auto Tech instructor about that. I say trim the hole until it just clears, and powder coat the Manifold. Sweet. I'm glad that you glad a chance to do it first.

dude thats a sweet build. last year i had the 2g eclipse rs, and i was going to do the srt4 motor swap. them i drove my buddies 2g- gsx and thought to myself......"I HAVE GOT TO GET ME ONE OF THESE" (Will smith/independence day)!!! so now im rockin the awd 2g.
i was going to call my car after the srt4 swap, an eclipse-rs-t4.

all im worried about is the tranny right now. is it holding up? and you used stock motor mounts, and found a way to get them lined up in the engine bay? im assuming you cut and welded alot.

and i knew wiring was gona be a bi***! did you use the srt cluster?

im in orlando and had herd on the forums (orlando forums and tampa racing) that there was a guy in FL that did that swap.
i was looking into doing one also ### i didnt want to follow the mold and decided there needed to be a CHANGE < (vote OBAMA fool)
