what could this be

Ok I'm rebiulding my engine (90 tsi) and when I took my oil pan off and powerwashed it I found these. What could they be and where are they from.

Rocker Arm?

take off your valve cover and look at all your Rocker Arms

thanks that what it looks like, fortunately they are all good, the guy before me replaced the head so this must have been the reason.

my only concern is how did they get to the oil pan ? did he place them there? i think you could have more problems than you think. not 100% sure, but i dont think they could have made there way to the pan through the oil system.

same thing happened to me. I found shrapnel and needle bearings in my oil pan. But.........my car runs great. It had been rebuilt by the previous owner so maybe they just never cleaned out the oil pan after he blew up his shit.

yeah same here, there are two large hole in two corners of the head that looks as if they go to the block so they probley went through that way.
