I've been racking my brain for months now trying to decide what to buy other than a '97 a/t gs-t.
Are there any other 4cy 2 door coupes worth considering that compare or even comes semi-close in terms of fun, stock performance and style that would cost less money? 7-8k for a '97+ would put me about 3-4k in debt. So far the only car I've been considering is an Avenger V6 but I have a feeling the handling will fall way too short of what I'm used to with my 1g -- has anyone driven one of these cars? Impressions? One downside I can already think of is if it ever needed any extensive repairs there aren't any shops that deal exclusively with these cars and I'd be stuck going to joe mechanic which will cost me in terms of quality service and headaches.
If I get the 2g will I miss the low and fast spooling 13g that I now have in my 1g? I raced quite a few stock 2g's with my mostly stock 1g and from a standstill without brake boosting I always leaped out ahead 3-4 car lengths and It would take the 2g almost a block before it would catch and walk away from me. I don't brake boost because I like to be a gentleman and give the other guy a head start before that little turbo kicks in fast and furious
: The 13g is very good in some situations like when you're at a red light side by side with another car/suv and across the inresection those 2 lanes merge into 1 -- that low and fast spool gives the quick power surge that's needed. There are other around town situations such as that one when the 13g is more advantagous than the t25 or bigger. The smaller turbo provides a more heightened 'turbo rush' but on the other hand the 2g pulls noticeably harder once the extra lag is overcome which of course would be welcomed at other times. Maybe I'm making too much of this difference because after all I've never driven a 2g and that extra 25 HP to start with would be a big plus.
Does the the 1 and 2g's handle the same? When the 2g's 1st came out I remember an article that mentioned that the 2g was more nimble because the chasis had been stiffened. What difference is noticed in handling if any between the 1 and 2g's?
Is the 1g better in any handling situations? How does ride quality compare? Does the 2g have a double-wishbone rear suspension? Are the brakes improved? Are the 2g ECU's any better? Paint fade? Any other differences worth knowing about before I dump my 1g and possibly get a 2g? Lots of questions because I loved my 1g for the past 8 yrs and need to know if the 2g will not disapoint.

). OBD2 ECU does suck compared to the 1g. You get less data from a Pocketlogger. However, DSMLink easily makes up for that
I take that as a compliment

He breaks into some sort of demented X-files logic and suddenly I'm starting to feel like Scully when Moulder hits her with his 'confuse and bone' tactics that never quite work. Luckily all I got was confused
