Are 2G TCU Capacitor Leakages Common?

After posting a question in the ECMTuning Forum, I was given a suggestion by Dave Mertz concerning my 2G A/T’s TCU. Dave mentioned that his 1G TCU had needed its larger electrolytic capacitors (the blue and black ones, yet not necessarily the yellow ones) replaced. He remarked that the first indication of cap leakage is complete TCU failure, and its repair becomes futile. Dave clarified that his experience pertained to a 1G, but he was uncertain if these failures were common on a 2G.

Does anyone know if the 2Gs (specifically a 1995 GSX for me) have been prone to TCU failures due to the larger capacitors leaking?
Thanks,
Jim

My caps looked good on the 2 TCU's I've had in my possession.

But I opened one up to find this on 2 separate occasions (same TCU).

(hopefully the image is fixed now.)

Methinks I have a short somewhere.
