What brand wax/polish do you like?

i use KIT wax. yellow metal tin. like $7. lasts for a whole YEAR. it's got a ton of carnuba in it, so it does last. I have used the old school turtle wax "our finest wax" in the green tub, and it does well also.

NXT/spray wax wont hold up. nothing but a paste wax will hold up over time. if u wanna to the NXT or spray wax AFTER a paste carnuba wax that's fine.

EDIT: my dad uses zaino. that stuff is AMAZING. u HAVE to order it and have it shipped.

95 percent of the time if you have never done it....clay bar the entire car, this will take all the over spray and any thing else that is stuck on your clear coat that wax can't take off. The next thing I would do is hit it with some kind of depth enhancer with a high speed buffer at about 1600 rpm keep checking your paint in order to make sure it isn't getting to hot. Then just hit it with some wax to seal up that shine. Oh ya and anything you can just pick up at autozone sucks don't waste your time trust me. Go with 3m products you won't go wrong

I wash my car with Meguiar's car wash, and then use turtle wax's compound to remove minor blemish/scratches. Next, I clay bar the car with Meguair's clay kit. Then to wax with Meguair's Gold class liquid Wax. The outcome is pure satisfaction :D

Well personally, Ive used all kinds, from turtle wax, meguires, liquid ice, 3m, liquid glass, wizards (my 2nd favorite,i love the smell) But i swear by mothers. I dont think anyone mentioned that. Especially if you have a black car, Will not streak or haze, using micro fiber. Eagle one is pretty damn good too, I use them all. I prefer black magic for the interior though. And black magic tire shine. :hellyeah:

I use Meguiars HI-tech yellow wax # 26. Best stuff IMO. I have use a lot of different waxes and this one shines and holds out the best. Best is to clay bar whole car and sand any light scratches out with 1500-2000 grit. Then a buff on a medium pad with a compound ( i use 3M) will make a remarkable difference. Then a final buff with Wizards Final cut will finish it off with a show car finish. (love the wizards products). I have buffed a lot of black cars and the Hi-tech finishes the job very nicely with no scratches. I have used some waxes where it still scratches when hand waxing it because how it dries on the paint. Hi-tech comes off very easily after it dries.

I have been using Zymol for the past 10 years or more. I used to do professional detailing and Zymol was all we used. Black cars are by far the hardest to detail, and my black Mini is no exception. I wash both my GSX and Mini once a week, quick wax once a month, and full work down every six months.

Some products that I have used the don't work: Turtle Wax "Black Box", most of Meguiares, ALL of Carnuba, and most of the ICE products. When I say don't work I mean they don't compare to Zymol in any way shape or form in my opinion. That doesn't mean they are bad products just not something I would ever use.
I do like using Meguiars Gold Class car soap but sometimes it makes waxing difficult as the wax doesn't want to work into the car and leaves a hazy film.

I tend to use Mothers all the time... But a guy in the detailin industry told about this brand called yellow wax not sure if its any good but he gave me a tin of it. So I'll try it out and hope for the best! ;)

The Meguiars Mirror Glaze line of products are the only thing Ill allow in my garage. Pics are after a cut and buff that I recently did on mine. I wish I had some before pics cause it was pretty bad. Scratches/swirls, and oxidation all over the car. This is the result.

bunch of garbage otc filler stuff in this thread (save for the Meguiars MG machine stuff). Zymol? MAYBE Ziano due to its durability as a sealer (since thats all it is). NXT2.0 is also a durable sealer.

My steps:
PC7424 @ 6k w/orange pad - Optimum CompoundII
PC7424 @ 4k w/white pad - Optimum PolySeal
Hand applied Natty's Blue or Red
Optimum Gloss Enhancer (combo of sealer/wax dependent on vehicle color).

Come spring time im moving up to a Rotary (already purchased) and Meguiars M105/205 machine combo and DodoJuice, going to spend a good 35-40hrs with the Spyder.

Examples (before and after):

I'm a Meguiars 105/205 fan myself. I just used the liquid blackfire wet diamond wax for the first time last weekend and was pretty impressed with the results.

Thomas and Doso. I agree. And nice work Thomas.

Take a plastic bag, put it on your hand, run it over a cleaned hood. Does the bag "catch"? Yeah? Claybar it.

Now the paint is fairly cleaned of trash. You can use a liquid prewax to remove the other paint contaminants. Things like...water spots. This is chemically cleaning.

Now you have all the junk gone. Time to even out the surface defects. Like...swirling. Thats where what Thomas is demonstrating above. And he's very patient apparently in doing so. Meg's 105/205 great combo. But keep in mind he is using the least aggresive pad and an excellent machine. Don't go grab a high speed rotary and expect to do what he did. You had better learn on your ex girlfriends bucket first.

After that you want to protect the work you did. So Either go wax or sealant. Waxes are typically made of natural stuff and sealants are synthetics. IE, The goldclass is a wax...that nxt is a sealant. I use both. Klasse is the sealant I have right now but really want to try that optimum out. Klasse is a beast to remove.

Then I finish off with a wax to make it pop. I prefer pinnacle soverign. Your bank account will not.

There are many good waxes and polishes.... I swap around between them, but generally stay within a few brands, mothers, meguiars, and zymol, I'll stick to one line, or mix and match (car wash, clay bar, wax, polish, interior cleaner).

right now I'm using Mothers FX synthetic wax and tire cleaner/shine, mothers back to black, and meguiars natural shine interior cleaner... no clay bar or car wash (just using dawn dish soap right now) because i don't have a car with a nice enough paint job to warrant keeping it perfect... after I get the beater resprayed I'll keep it real perty :)

Bringing it back from the crypts! I know there are some new waxes out there what are you guys using this day in age. our cars are getting old. and so is our paint.
I use S100 Wax. you can get it at harley davidson dealships or order it online. truely a show car finish. it dosent last as long as traditional shit but OMG dose it look wet. Its what jdm showcar guys use on jspek.com.
I use it and its pretty harley flossy. I'll post picks in a bit.

This is with S100 Wax. I was going to take pictures outside but its been raining all week. She dont get wet, but she sure dose look it.

First I would like to say if you have never used a clay kit on your car I would do so. I picked up mcguires clay kit and boy does it work. For a finishing touch I used mcguires gold plus carnuba wax in the tin can. I called mcguires customer service and the Rep said that with thirty product line that is the best way to go. Just make sure to give their wax extra time to dry. The next time I really detail my car I will be using 3m rubbing cokmpound to remove some deeper levels of oxidation.

After reading through this thread I'm debating on a better finish. I may have reached my paints limit already but I hope to find a product that will take it just a 1/2 step further. My car sat for two years before I bought it. I've been steadily bringing it back over the last few months. Products that exceeded expectations are - mcguires clay bar kit and 3m rubbing compound.

You gotta restore it before it will shine.

What I have seen in this thread I would like to try is s100 and liquid glass. Stopping by harely this weekend to pick up the s100 and haven't found a place that caries liquid glass yet.

+1 on this. Zymöl is amazing!

Even just the basic cleaner was. That is about the only thing I use on my cars anymore.

My arsenal for wash/wax/claybar is meguiars car wash, Zymöl waxes and I recently used one of those basic claybars from Meguiars. It wasn't abrasive, was actually very light claybar and got lots of nasties off the paint. Ended up looking great.

Meguiars everything!

specially the 3 step kit. heres some pis of all 3 steps used on my mirage (look at the fender). also take note that the cars clear coat was gone, and the paint was so faded it literally was just about pink, but i still saw love and rescued it! awd... soon.

it still needs a paint job, its to the point that im buffing out paint right now LOL. but im just showing the power of meguiars products, all done even without a clear coat!:hellyeah:

+1 on the mothers. Use it on my exterior paint. And on my aluminum parts under hood. But for polishing/rubbing compound I trust turtle.

Look for a new wax that just came out. It is made by Monster (the audio cable company). There Super Glow premium wax worked great! Don't have to worry about getting it on plastic or rubber and no drying time required. Look into it. Still think Zymol is #1 but this Monster wax is a close #2.
