What brand flywheel?

I bought a flywheel off a guy for my car,he kind of just threw it in with a few other parts I was buying. He didn't know what brand it was, but it is pretty light. It weighs 11.5 lbs. I'll put it in whenever I put in my new clutch.

Also, I have read and understand the concept of a lightened flywheel, but does it really make that much of a difference?

I'm going to answer you question, but I advise you to search next time as the answers were readily available.

11.6lbs is an ACT Streetlite flywheel. It's also not that light when compared to the Fidanza, which weighs in at 8lbs. Just for reference, stock weighs around 19lbs. That said, most people prefer a stock flywheel for a daily.

Yes, a lightweight flywheel makes a noticeable difference. Short version: the engine will rev faster with throttle but will also drop quicker with no throttle. So revving/rev matching is easier, but the RPMs will drop off faster after shifts and on decelerating as well. Also, driving in traffic will suck worse as you will have to give it a little (ACT) or a lot (Fidanza) more throttle before letting out the clutch or it will stall.

One last thing, 11.6lbs is for an AWD Flywheel, while 12.3lbs is for a FWD (Both 7-bolt). On your profile you have a GST listed, so that Flywheel will not fit that vehicle.

I just had to replace the slave on my daily work truck, 93 Ranger

Since the trans has to be pulled, I installed a new clutch at the same time.

I also had a spare flywheel, so I surfaced it, and lightened it by 2lbs.

Not much of a difference in weight, but it did make a difference in how the truck acells and decells.

Keep in mind this is a factory rated 110 hp 4cyl NA engine

Over all I am glad I did it.

BTW, that flywheel is missing one of the pressure plate pins.

Run all 3 or remove the other 2, the missing pin is about 5g of out of balance.

I went from stock to a Fidanza. Noticeable for sure. I mainly got it not for the light weight but because it uses a replaceable friction disk. More grip. Can hold more torque. You want it balanced or get a fluidampr when you use a lightweight flywheel. Fluidamprs are very heavy themselves so its a trade off in a way. But the fluidampr will really help extend the life of the bearings. Bottom end will thank you.
