a had a post about leaking coolant thought i fix it went to add antifreeze tonight small amounts of oil in my coolant check oil seam like there may be some water in oil at lease not enough to be sure the collant seemed slippery like oil so like i said it is small amounts so could it be something other then a head gaskitgive me some thing to check before i rebuild my motor to find it was something simple :laser:

It could possibly be mixing through the turbo, but if not then it's caused by a headgasket not sealing properly. You could go to autozone and get a compression test done, I think they are free (don't quote me on that). Then compare your results to the ones at the bottom of this page (thanks to VFAQ): http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/compression.htm

For your 1G turbo, the standard compression (like from the factory) is 164psi, service limit (in other words the lowest it can be without needing to be fixed) is 121 psi and you can have a difference of up to 14 psi between cylinders.

So I'd go get a compression test done somewhere (or buy a tester and do it yourself as described from the website above) and see how that head gasket is really sealing. If your compression does turn out to be okay then maybe it's mixing through the turbo? Again that's only a thought. Good luck!

i thank it it maybe the turbo but how to make sure before buing a new they not cheap
i mean if that the case should get a bigger one right

wait that was some other car here there

ok did a compression test to day. cylinder 1. 170 2. 164 3. 170 4. 176 so my compression is good. now where do i check?

so how do i check the turbo

remove your intake and check your compressor wheel for any sign of shaft play. MINOR side to side is fine (just as long as it's not hitting the compressor housing). Oh, check for any In and Out movements as well. If there is a sign of In and Out play, this is a BAD sign.

ok checked shaft play and there is none its all tight i do have water/oil cooled can seal still be bad how do i test it?

Have you done an oil change recently? Has the problem started since then? If so it's almost definitely your oil filter housing. If not, take your oil filter off and gently tighten the center threads (you'll see a place you can get a socket on), there's a chance it's just loose since everything else sounds good.

no have not chance oil lately will check that can you tell me how the oil would get in my coolant from there just asking not trying to be a dickthank you for a place to check

If you had recently changed the oil there was just a greater chance you overtightened the filter. It's also possible that it just developed a leak for no good reason.

ya, the 90's usually have the air/oil, but I've seen a few 90's that have the later one. I don't know if they get replaced, or if they are just later model year cars that have the new ones. If you think it was a motor swap you can compare the vin # on the block to the one on the dash.

what color is your oil? Coolant is kinda slick. Are you 100% positive you have coolant in your oil? If you are sure, then you need to do a leak down.
