Okay so today I took a trip to the car wash thinking I was just going to give the trunk a good vacuuming and cleaning , To my surprise I found what looks like 2 inches of pooled oil under my spare ! 😳 Obviously this is from the previous owner , he was a grimy guy who never washed the thing or took care of it .. bought it with all sorts of trash and and dust , anyways Cleaned most of it up with towels I had but noticed a couple of tubes and lines disconnected . I’m really confused on what these hoses and tubes are for .. Is that the reason oil is there ? Are they for fuel ? I thought it was for washer fluid But Spyders have a small rear window so I doubt that . Any help or info would be appreciated. Couldn’t take pictures of the pool of oil as I had my hands drenched in oil :( didn’t expect this 💩 just glad I cleaned most of it up . What a nightmare

Everything back there is for the washer fluid. The only difference is a coup has two pumps in the tank, one for the rear window.

I would remove the whole assembly, pull the plug on the bottom and wash it with water and degreaser. Then put it all back in.

Ouh I see thank you for clarifying it , this is my first spyder and turbo car , when I seen all that oil in there and those hoses I was trippin LOL

Are you positive it was oil and not old stagnant water? I’m not familiar with the 2g Spyder’s, however it’s not uncommon for cars of the era to have drainage holes where the hatch/trunk lid seals to the body (2g coupes may be set up like this but been many moons since I’ve been back there on one but I want to say they do, maybe someone else can chime in?) that allow water to drain out when it rains/snows. The problem is as they get to to be 10-15-20 years old those drain hoses clog and water has to go somewhere. Again has been awhile since I’ve worked in the hatch of a 2g and this could be wrong but if not it would make sense for it to be nasty old water that found it’s way back there.

Well, at least it didn’t rust in the spare tire well. Roof leaks in Spyders can have water accumulate there and start rust. The PO probably had a bottle of oil that leaked into the well.

Your washer fluid bottle is supposed to be in that area. That’s what those hoses hook up to. If it’s missing, you can get a used one to put in there. It is molded to fit under the spare tire. The fill hose is in the gasket area on the left side of the trunk lid.
