Alrighty, here’s the gig.. I have a97 GST with ECMLink v3.. my question is, when welding holes on the body, would this affect any electrical systems..?? You know, frying the ECU and such.. what precautions should I take.. am using cheap ass wire feed.. thanks for any info
 
Agree, disconnect neg battery cable. Watch out for fire and flammable objects (tires, interior, fuel, oil, oily grime). Keep a fire extinguisher handy. Ground clamp as close to your working area as possible. Don't use brake clean right before welding due to poisonous phosgene gas.
 
I agree with all previous comments. I’d also like to add, 3M makes a weld and spark deflection paper that has an adhesive backing you can stick any surfaces you don’t want burn damage from welding. Welding sparks can damage auto glass, plastic light lenses, bumpers, tires, belts moldings, etc.
