I got my awd swap finished this past weekend along with going back to a 7 bolt engine from a 6 bolt. I've kept my manifolds, intake setup, and turbo that I already had on the car. Now, once my turbo spools, I can hear an odd noise that for now, I can only assume is turbo related. I sewrched and only found whistling, supercharger, and other sounds of that nature. However, I think mine is different. The only thing I can think of it sounding like, is the sound one would associate with an air line over pressurizing and forming a bubble in the line just waiting to burst. I don't know how else to explain it, and I cant reproduce the noise when the car is stationary with no load on the engine/turbo. This only happens during spool up, and no matter whether the engine is hot or cold. I had the turbo rebuilt a few years ago, and it has minimal side to side shaft play, but otherwise has performed great since.

It's a boost leak. A bad one would sound like flipper the dolphin when you hit boost. These cars are the worst about clamps needing to be retightened after a few heat cycles. Radiator clamps, blow off valve bolts, coupler clamps, you name it they get loose after a few heat cycles

Oh it could also be the Pcv valve but mine went bad and sounded like a referee whistle

Thanks Chrysler Kid, I really didn't consider a clamp, but will look in to it. I will try to post a video, but don't have high hopes for video to pick up the sound. Will try though.

One other thought. On my way to work this morning, I monitored my boost gauge to see about when this noise occurs. Boost normally occurs for me once the gauge reaches 0 on vacuum. Well, now it's startijg to boost between -10 & -7 vacuum, and the noise occurs within a second after the turbo spools.

Update: I did a smoke test, leak down test, and a boost leak test and found four spots where I was leaking air. I got all locations tightened up and the noise is gone, and my power and spool time has returned to normal. Problem solved. Thanks for the suggestions, they paid off.
