weird transmission noise

So after letting my car sit for most of the day while I borrowed a friend's truck for moving, the tranny makes a weird knock/clunk sound when I push in the clutch pedal. I hear it while shifting from 1st-2nd & 2nd-3rd. Occasionally from 3rd-4th, but it's real faint and almost unnoticable going to 4th. I'm I correct to assume thise is my throwout bearing failing? I just got my new one in today, but have absolutely no time to swap them any time soon. Ideas?

Possibly throw out bearing, sounds more like something to do with the flywheel or pressure plate fasteners.

my throwout bearing sounds like a scrape sound that goes away after my car is warmed up. never heard it thunk before.

have someone operate the clutch while your looking over the transmission and see if you can narrow it down maybe.

I think both of you may just have TO bearing issuses. I've read, and been told to only use Mits OEM
TO. When you have the trans out inspect everything anyway.

Can you possibly explain the clunk more does it sound as if something is "knocking/clunking" against another item or does it sound mechanical as in something inside the transmission id also maybe check to make sure nothing is in the way of the shifter weight on the outside of the transmission, one time my battery bracket fell down by the shifter weight and when i tried to shift it made a clunk, not loud but enough to hear it..

When you have some time, jack up the car, remove the driver's side wheel and splash guards (lower motor) so you can expose the crank pulley. Have a friend start your car and push the clutch in and see if you see any back and forth movement.

(cross fingers) hopefully it's not crankwalk. This will hopefully eliminate or substantiate your crankwalk fear.

Just realized this thread is 2 months old. Did you identify and resolve the issue?

For god sakes. People need to stop with this crank walk stuff. There would be a whole lot more issues than a little clunk shifting.
