I know, just what everyone wants to see, another noise post. But here's what's going on. I was almost home from school tonight, actually just down the street from home and sitting at a stop sign. For whatever reason, I lowered the driver side window and happened to here this weird noise. For a moment I thought maybe it was something stuck under the engine rubbing on the road, but I wasn't moving. The best way I can describe it is the sound made by a bicycle with the plastic beads attached to the wire spokes sliding back and forth as the wheel turns. It's just a weird clicking sort of sound. So I drove slowly home, maybe a quarter mile tops and it made the same noise all the way. No change in pitch with road speed or engine speed. Got home and parked. Still making the noise. Got out to look under with my flashlight and within maybe 10 seconds, the noise disappeared.

I read a post already about maybe a TOB noise. I think if mine was causing it, the noise would change with idle speed, which is not the case here. Gonna see if my boss at work will let me rack my car in the morning so I can pull the oil pan and inspect things, but until then, just searching for thoughts. Also from what I could see, there's nothing hanging, dangling, lodged, or whatever under my engine.

Well I was going to delete this since I located my issue, but I seem to have lost the option to do so.

Anyway, this morning I started up my car and the noise was immediately present again. Only this time a little louder. So I popped the hood and started searching only to find my alternator randomly sparking. So I've located the problem. I knew it needed to be replaced, but didn't think it was this bad. Got my spyder to work thankfully without it catching fire. Should have a new alt today.
