Well i thought it was my throw out bearing. Its hard to put my car into gear. and when it does it kind of grinds. In neutral i can rev the car up and when its comming down it sounds like somethings kind of rattleing in the bellhousing. When i get the car into gear while holding in the clutch i hear a clicking sound or ticking sound.

Either a TOB... or a flywheel bolt backing out.

o.o Tear it down.. and check both...

Sounds like a throw out bearing. It pretty much makes the noises you described when it's at the end of it's life. Make sure you replace it with a Mitsubishi TOB for the longest life with the fewest problems. All the others seem to have issues with lifespan or functionality.

I had a similar problem in a Galant vr4 that i picked up from someone. I pulled the tranny off and the springs on the clutch disc had broke loose and were rattling around on the disk loosely and cause the clutch to not work properly. I changed out the slave cylinder and master cylinder with no luck and thought it was the throw out bearing. When I pulled off the tranny and found pieces of the clutch disc on the ground and discovered the problem

BTW how old is your clutch?

what would happen if the hold down pin isnt there, i think it might have broke

Do you mean the clutch release clip or something else?

That wire clip is pretty easy to lose/break but it's pretty important or they wouldn't have included it in the design... Pretty much any part that's in the transmission is needed so, yeah, I'd take it out and check everything before something else gets damaged. You'll know either way once it's out.

yeah thats the spring, and i was thinking it was either that not being there or the clutch. its an act2600. and ive read that the springs come loose on the disks.

does anyone have a picture of how the clutch release clip goes on?
