ok well when i start up my car in the evening after it sittin all day and i start it up to leave for work the turbo spools up and whines for a bit....i know most cars rev high on start up when cold but ive never heard it like this to come from a turbo. my friends scion tc doesnt do it and its turbo'd. and theres also a ticking for about 20 sec as well and thats it. sometimes itll tick if i get on it a bit when the turbo spools to about 2-3 lbs then it stops when i get to 9lbs.

any ideas?

also just a random one.....i just replaced my o2 sensor and my check engine light came on and code said o2 is bad. could it be the plug?

ticking? that sounds like good old lifter tap from a dsm.....

as far as turbo noise...how many miles on it?
also the distance between the blades and the housing on a turbo is only a few thousands of an inch.
it could be a lil sloppy when cold. then when the car warms the metal exspans and its good again.
if i were you i would start saving for a new turbo just in case.....but. my 14-b did the same thing for over a year before it went up. so don't worry to much ...just be prepaired.

It could be your blades nicking the sides of the housing. Check to see if there's any shaft play. How sure are you that it's coming from the turbo?

ya im savin up for a t3/t4 setup right now. already have the turbo itself on order just waitin for enough to get the new intake LOL. and got some other parts on order too. hopein to get my engine management system today or tomorrow. i shipped it to my work to get it 2 days sooner =] LOL

the sound is the turbo itself. i had my roommate start it up while i had my head right by it and it was def comin from the turbo. the ticking was the block so most likely the lifter. typical.
it just has a loud wine for about 5-8 sec and thats about it. then it stops. and after its warmed up it runs like a champ

The T25's on it's way out, no doubt about it. I take it you haven't checked for shaft play yet?

I hope it's not one of those generic Chinese "T3/T4" turbos or you'll be putting another one on in two weeks, and another one two weeks after that.

You should've bought a 16G. No adapting necessary- it'll bolt directly to your stock manifold and use your existing coolant lines- even your existing intake.
