Hey guys I just completed my 14b swap onto my 2G and I'm experiencing a weird problem. I'm watching and hearing the car build boost just fine but when I take the car out for a drive and take it up to 4500-5000 rpm's I hear a loud somewhat high pitched whining noise (kind of sounds like a supercharger) and the car doesn't even have a T-25 pull to it. It makes this s/c sounding whine when I'm near or at WOT only, not if I'm goosing the throttle or giving it part throttle. I only have a factory boost gauge right now and it is reading boost but it doesn't peg the boost gauge.

Any ideas or suggestions of what to look for? Thanks guys/girls!

No aftermarket controller. I think it may just be the stock plastic BOV. Anything above 50% throttle and I hear this loud whoosing sound like a welder on at full blast. Sound like a bad BOV to anyone else?

my car was also making that "whinning noise". the turbo that is on there is a t-25. It has some miles on it. When the other turbo went out I replaced it with this one. I checked for boost leaks and it was fine. It would pull like it should, I had no problems, until my motor blew I will find out if it was the motor or if it still the turbo. maybe it ws a boost leak and hopefully the shop fixed it. I'll keep you guys posted.

EDIT: I don't think it is the bov I have a 1g bov and it sounds fine also. no fluttering or anything. if i rev the engine to build boost i can hear the turbo spool and whine at the same time with my ear basicaly on the turbo.

i dont think its the bov either. unless its cracked or broken in someway it wont be leaking that bad. build that leak tester and youll find out
