this is a weird problem ive had for quite some time. whenever i try to start my car, the thing like shuts off. no electric to anything, even if i pull the key out and put it back in, no acc power or anything. when i remove the power cable to the battery and put it back on, it gives me acc power again, but when i try to start it, it goes back to no power and i have to replace the positive cable again. any ideas?

Are you blowing any fuses?

If not, it sounds like you have a dead short somewhere, probably between the battery and starter. If you aren't blowing fuses, it could also be a dangerous situation that could start a fire.

Check all the wiring around the starter, and see if anything looks burnt or like it has shorted. You could also have someone turn it over while you look for sparks or something out of the ordinary.

my fuse wires are no good, however i dont know how to replace them...the ones that run from the fuse to the positive. the end is frayed and the former circle part has been cut so i bet its very poor contact to the battery thing..could that be it?

the grounds have been replaced with 4gauge wire and the cable to the starter was just replaced with 4gauge, so i dont htink thats it.
