whats some stuff i can do to my 95 eclipse to shed a little more weight besides a cf hood and removing the spare?

You could take out all the seats (except yours of course :p ) and then strip the rest of the interior. That is, if you don't mind the look of it.

my car is a daily driver and i stripped out the hatch area anyway, you cant even tell the difference really other than its louder.. but all the paneling and flaps and other crap back there were probably around 30-40lbs.. though i only really did it to get rid of all the squeeks that were coming from back there.. in my mind the car feels more solid without all the rattles, so it was a good mod :D

Lots and lots of helium baloons in the passenger compartment. Get a second cargo net, slit the ends open, knit them together and mount just behind the front seats. Fill the hatch with baloons until the glass starts to bulge.

What about fiberglass fenders for weight reduction? Is there a big difference in weight between stock and fiberglass fenders?

ROFL

Defiant man you crack me up! redturboed95, you can take out all the sound material underneath the carpet and stuck the the floor, as well as the mat by the firewall...not sure if all this is the same on a 2g but i dunno why it would be...just the sound deadening material took 26 lbs off my car

if ur serious about weight take out any subs if u have them (obviously!) and all the speakers and the stereo. get race bumpers.... they dont protect u tho. and take out the a/c crap, and anything in the interior u can. if the cars for street use leave the powersteering!, unless u get a non power rack MADE for non power. or u know that engine weighs a lot. take that out and strap one of them jato rocket booster on, if you slap one of those double decker wings on there maybe itll take off?

get rid of ur front and back bumper supports, there huge slabs of metal that weigh about 38 pounds each, if u think your a good driver take the front one out. And if you got a ton of idiots driving around were u live leave the back bumper on cause remember u take the supports off ur car will crumble alot easier, but i mean even if u were hit at 50mphr and u had ur bumper supports on... it wouldnt matter ur car is totaled, besides u got the fire wall to protect u LOL :thumb:

Note: rotating wieght is worth many times its wieght value removed. So not only should you reduce the total vehicle wieght, things like engine crank, valvetrain, driveshaft, flywheel, wheels, tires, brakes, anything the engine spins are worth many times their reduced wieght in lbs due to the cars newly insatiable desire to accelerate this I like to call unseen wieght reduction. By increasing the cars efficiency directly or indirectly related to the rotational mass. These are known as sprung and unsprung wieght values.
Get this: reducing the wieght of some shiny 20" wheels to a wheel like TE37 15"x7" would be the equivalent reducing your cars wieght by at least a few hundred+ lbs.
20-30+ lbs vrs. 11 lbs. each but that is only a roughly 60lb. total vehicle wieght reduction.
so whats going to improve a timeslip
a combination of anything you can think of from sun visors, uneeded bolts to super light crankshaft, rods and pistons to reduce both rotational mass and total vehicle wieght. rotational mass like flywheels wheels and tires are easiest. maybe if you had the money you could even have custom tubular control arms made to reduce total wieght.it will all add up then pwr to wieght ratio will be extraordinary. :dsm:
go pro wieght reduction pro manual steering less bolt ons- less mayonaise slatherd on top of richly coated cowpies go fiberglass plexiglass smart wheels and tires wiegh your car balance your car and go faster dont endlessly chase peak power make your power count first make it worth more! And it is more power. be faster with the same amount of power. :shhh:
