I went to Walmart to get some of their Federal 100-rd boxes of .40SW to feed my XDM and they were still out. Considering the 50-rd boxes cost 16.97 and the 100-rd boxes are 27.97, I really want to get the larger bulk boxes, but the guy says the Walmart warehouses are totally out. Who knows when they'll be back in stock.

Maverick, they have the 100-rd boxes in 9mm too for pretty cheap. If you're still stocking up, see if you can find some of those.

Went to the local Wally Mart today. COMPLETELY out of Winchester white boxes (in pretty much every caliber).

I had to settle for a 250 pack of UMC stuff (.45 ACP). Shoots fine and accurate... but dirty as HELL.

Really digging the new Heinie's I put on my XD though

Mike, the Walmarts around here have been out of Federal bulk packs and I stupidly refuse to buy the 50 round boxes and pay more for the same amount of rounds. They still have plenty of WWB, but again, it's more money. Not a huge fan of UMC, but... I might end up buying a big box if I can't find Federal. For some reason, it just seems to be the best deal for a good quality ammo.

Besides going to a gun store and fill out the paperwork, how do you find out if your legal to own a firearm? For home defense and possibly concealed carry with permit of course.

Read your local laws.
18+ for rifles and 21 for handguns. Felonies= forget about it unless you file an appeal with a local committee that decides if you can own one

Then, for concealed carry, if your state/local government allows it (some states don't) you pay money, take a class, file paperwork with (usually) the courthouse, pay some more money, and wait for your card to show up in the mail. That's the short version as it was explained to me. Different states may have different practices.

I've learned that you have to show up to buy ammo on a monday, instead of fridays.

For some reason, the local stores usually have it then.

i would assume 223/5.56 from the Pmag, maybe something like 450 busmaster or 458 SOCOM

that's from an FFL(which is probably the best way to go if you have little firearms knowledge),
per federal law if you buy from a private party its rifles = no age handguns = 18+ there may be stricter laws in your state too, i believe there is one state where you must be 23 to buy a handgun.

per federal laws you walk into a gun shop, find what you want, fill out a 4473 then they call in a background check($2), you hand them cash then they hand you your firearm and everything included, again your state law may be stricter requiring you to register your firearm etc

Ah ok. I read into the "big" part too much. Thought you had rifle chambered in a "big" round instead of the typical .223/5.56 . Nice weapon though.

Not a felon.Can't find the classes, but I bet my couzin knows where they are.We were at the gunstore about a month or more ago.And It got me thinking about getting a home defense weapon.But then I was like well, hell We have concealed carry, and Iowa lets wisonsin card carriers, to carry in Iowa.

My buddy Got denied for a rifle,And I thought where can I check withought filling out the paperwork, or going to a gun show.He is not a felon either, but he was still denied.
