I just bought 2G Eclipse gsx, with 6 bolt swap and forged internals, car was fine but after 3 days, it started to overheat. it happens rarely, for example Monday I drove it whole day it was fine, Tuesday it overheated and temp went up to 65% of the gauge, Wednesday and Thursday it was fine again and today it happened again, do you have any idea what it might be? I have fan on switch, so its always on never goes off. Thermostat is fine as well. any other ideas?

+1^^^

sounds like an air pocket... let the car sit overnight and in the morning take off the filler cap, and start the car... fill it up with water or 50/50 coolant and wait for the bubbles to stop, add a touch more fluid turn it off and put the cap back on

Yes both hoses are hot, if it was water pump, or any other problems that 007jimmy said, I think it would overheat all the time right? because yesterday I drove it for 3 hours and nothing happened, but today after 10 minutes drive it went up.

When it over heats are you boosting? Cruising on the highway? Stop and go traffic? Anything blocking the airflow of your radiator? Having the fans on all the time doesn't do jack when you are driving around. They only help at idle...

For example yesterday, I drove it on highway and on street, I boosted, I redlined it on 8K probably 10 times, nothing has happened, today I was driving normally on highway, and it went up, it was slight traffic but I was still moving at 50-60MPH, car ahead was probably 100-150 foot away so it was not blocking the air at all.

Other cars wouldn't block the airflow ROFL I was talking about leaves, dirt, debris etc.. Just make sure you get all the air out of the coolant system first and go from there as its a fairly common problem. If you use any water use distilled water and NOT tap water as it will cause mineral deposits throughout your coolant system. 50/50 mix is pretty common.

Ok thanks a lot guys, I ll try to do bleeding tomorrow, Ill change water cap as well hope fully it helps, thanks again

the thermo stat could be going bad like sticking half way some times. reason i say that is because it happen to me ... this is after i had burped the system and kept heating.
