Water Pump Replacement

I've been searching around a little and got a few answers and information as well, but I figured i'd make a post about it to see if I could get more information.

My water pump is leaking like hell, so it's time to change it. I've got the water pump and all. From what it looks like, I can remove the motor mount and jack the motor up on the drivers side and replace it without having to remove the timing belt. Is this the case? Does the timing belt absolutely have to be removed?

No you have to remove the belt to get the pump off.

As per the Chilton manual and experience, you gotta remove it. It really is not that big of a deal and if it has not been replaced in a while it definitely would not hurt to do so. Check out this VFAQ link below for a how to:

, good point. Improper timing belt install would definitely cause more grief than a leaking water pump
