So we had some bad rainfall last night, flash flood type stuff. I had to get back to my work place and had only one way to go, and it was much deeper than i anticipated. I made it though the water but the car stalled and rolled into the middle of the intersection. Some guys towed me to a parking lot where I let the car sit overnight.

I came back the next day and it still wouldn’t start. I opened up the air intake and a good amount of water spilled out. So I opened up everything else I could think of, which wasn’t much and let it air out over the afternoon. Came back and it still wont fire up. Just a big clunk when I turn the key, my dash lights come on, but its almost like a dead battery, but my voltage gauge says im fine (have the jumper cables hooked up) Any ideas in which I could try? Thanks

ouch that sucks... the key is to get your speed before the puddle, then close the throttle plate before you go into it... then no water gets sucked up

That happened to me when i first installed my cai - The car died on me in the middle of a puddle - decided not to try and open throttle so i put it in neutral and rolled it back over to my offce (happened right infront of my building) ... I left it in a spot overnight & gave the night guard a little bit to keep an eye on her.

In the end I came back the next day and it wouldnt crank, I had it towed to my house, by that time there was no water and ran fine since then [knock on wood 3x's]

P.S. Chris: It's begun :D

Can you rotate the engine from the crankbolt? You may have gotten water in your combustion chamber and it seized the piston rings to the block.

Along those lines, I would definitely pull the plugs and try cranking it by hand, if not by key. With the plugs out, there is no compression and you might be able see if there is any water (or how much) in there. Good luck. This would make me really, really nervous.

Damm you beat me to it.While your at it you should try it with new spark plugs.Install these after youv' tried to make the engine turn and got all of the water out of your engine.Try blowing in air with an air gun if you have acces to a compresoor to try and dry things as much as possible.we've saved 3 honda's back when i worked at the shop.Same thing happened as you've said it.Good luck and prey.

pray it didnt crank with water in it.youll have a lot more to worry about than froze rings.ive taken an engine apart before that ran through some water.rods looked like twisted pretzels.

Well, I took it to an auto shop and they diagnosed it dead. Said something bout it throwing the rods. $2200 for them to put an engine with 106k miles on it in. I bought the car for $2800 so i dont think its worth it. Would you recommend parting it out, or selling the shell without an engine?
