Wategate problems.. Help!!

So I went to install a boost controller on my t25 today, and no matter how much I turned it up the turbo would still only boost at about 12psi. So, I yanked the hose off of the wastegate to see if it was actually possible for my turbo to boost higher, and it still boosted the same!! Is my wastegate clogged or something?
 
Turning up the boost without any mods ends in failure. The reason it doesn't go past 12psi is because you have the stock 2g BOV and it won't hold anymore than that. Its not the wastegate.
 
no you cant turn down the boost... the lowest it will go is to wastegate pressure only. if you pull your wastegate off it will boost lower... i dont remember what stock wastegate pressure is it been a long time since i have anything stock, but im guessing its around 9 psi so 12 psi's of boost is about right
 
To see what the stock spring is set at, take the hose that comes off the turbo inducer housing and run that straight to your wastegate. If you have an aftermarket boost gauge, look to see where it goes at full boost. Some people also "crush" their BOV's .
 
The basic function of the "wastegate" is to allow exhaust gas to go around the turbo instead of through it, which allows the turbo to stop making more boost. In other words, the wastegate is what allows you to control the boost level.

"Blowoff valves" are used to prevent compressor surge, a phenomenon that readily occurs when lifting off the throttle of an unvented, turbocharged engine. When the throttle plate on a turbocharged engine closes, the high pressure air in the intake system is trapped by the throttle and a pressure wave is forced back into the compressor. The compressor wheel slows rapidly and may even stall, and the driver will notice a fluttering air sound. The rapid slowing or stalling stresses the turbo and imparts severe turbo lag if the driver accelerates immediately after the surge event.

:cool: I am sorry, I was not implying that you were "dumb". I have heard of people talking about their wastegate as the BOV and vise versa. I just wanted to make it clear.. LOL Again, I did not say that to question your intelligence.
 
Do the BCS removal and thats it.

If you want more boost, upgrade the turbo along with supporting mods.

Here is my turbo. Get one BIGGER than this.. LOL This one is only good for about 550hp with the right supporting mods!
