does the flapper on an enternal wastgate have to seal to build boost? Ive been searching boost leaks for weeks and for some reason I cant build more than 11lbs. my boost controller is turned all the way up! so finally I rip out the 14b and see the wastegate flapper doesnt seat over the hole properly. with it closed I can see light through it. Not to mention the cracks!

thats your problem. Change the wastegate actuator thats most of the problem. if i'm not mistaken i'm pretty sure your actuator is bent to one side.
Change it and you'll be golden. The cracks will obviously need to be welded properly or replaced.

did the wastegate come with a valve seat? i went crazy when i first bought my external b/c i was having the same problem and didnt realize that i forgot to put in the valve seat.

if you havent installed that on the turbo/manifold side of the wastegate then it will leak and not build boost fast... as far as boost control is concerned, what spring are you using in the wastegate?

Im still using the stock internal

oh snap.... you spelled it "enternal" in your first post... i read it as "external"

anyways to answer your questions.... yes the flapper needs to seal to make boost. If i were you id try flipping the vaccum hoses on your mbc to see if you had them backwards. also, you say you have the mbc turned all the way out, you have to screw it in to raise the boost. (depending on your certain mbc)....

lastly, check for boost leaks.
