Hi here is my original post:

"hey guys i need your help. I have my new 20G turbo on the car now for a couple of weeks and from day one it is overboosting I really have to watch it. I have a MBC on it and cranked it all the way down and it does not make a difference. I even took the vacuum line from the J-pipe and hooked it directly to the wastgate actuator and it still overboosts. Does this mean I have a faulty wastgate actuator??"

the turbo is a CX Racing 20G with about 150 miles on it.

I dont think its spiking or creeping becuase it will keep building boost until I let off the trottle. My current autometer boost gauge only goes to 20 psi but I have had the needle way past that a couple times.

thanks for all the help

That says it all. . . It's cheap ebay junk. But to answer your question, test it. Hook an air compressor up to it and see if it opens. If not, replace it, but honestly, you should replace the whole turbo, as that one will fail on you very soon. . .

Does it have internal gate or external. If its external you may have the vacuum line hooked up backwards. I had the same problem but didn't catch it in time and destroyed my brand new turbo. It only had 15 miles on it.

Make sure the wastgate isn't catching on anything in the engine bay.

Then take some compressed air regulated at 15psi or what ever the wastgate is rated for and hook it up to that and watch the wastegate to see if it moves.

i had the same problem. turned out my line from the compressor cover nipple to the wastegate was too small. upgraded to a bigger size and fixed the problem

Do you understand exactly what "boost creep" means?

Turbocharger Boost Creep and Spiking

Such a problem has gone hand-in-hand with the aftermarket Chinese turbos since they first appeared almost 10 years ago; the source of the problem is this dime-sized wastegate hole:

What you need to do is remove the turbo and do a little port work, until you end up with this:

...and your creep problems will magically disappear.

eBay....great for cooking utensils, bad for turbochargers.

JusMX141, I understand it now, thanks for the post and link. Looks like I will have to open up the wastegate hole and then post my results. Hopefully I will have time this weekend.
